I do wonder if we'll have an all UEFA semi-final, I fancy the French to do the Brazilians.

I couldnt agree more... one of the most all-round incompetent coaching performances I've seen at this level. Frankly, if Pekerman doesnt get canned for leaving MEssi out and taking Riquelme out in the 70th minute (after you've built your whole team around him all tournament), then I will have seen everything.

Well, as the commentators correctly pointed out, the keeper injury prevented Messi from coming on.

Still, the taking of Riquelme out was strange.
I wouldn't be too quick to bash him yet though.

When Rio was pulled earlier in the group stages, we were all up in arms.
It later turned out he srtained his thigh.

Riquelme may have been hiding something that only the manager knew about.

Worked out well for you though! Damn, a little premature there.

You might be right about France, Clan. It was only ever going to be the two big South American teams to even have a chance of spoiling an all-Euro semis with the Cup in Germany. Brazil hasn't been too inspiring so far, but then the French have played about one good half.

As is ever the case with France though, will Henry show up?
    I think he will.

The Brazilian defense is slow and oft wayyyyyyyy out of position.
Henry makes a killing coming in from the wings and scoring.

    I certainly don't see a 0-0 or even a 1-0.
Fancy France to break them 3-2.

The commentators correctly pointed out nothing
pekerman shouldnt use the keeper excuse
i mean he puts cruz on instead of messi
    and what did cruz do????

Pekerman shares the spotlight with van basten for not putting RVN in.

    Second guessing is always.......subjective.

Tall forward to counteract the tall defenders?

Would speed perhaps have been better against tired big lugs?
    Perhaps.

He had his reasons, I'll wait untill he states them before lumping him into the SGE idiot managers group.

Henry makes a killing coming in from the wing, but I haven't seen him over there yet. What's the deal with French tactics?

Well after seeing the chelsea logo you know messi gave the chelsea back line trouble and there is no doubt he wouldve done the same to this german joke of a defense

If crespo didnt get anything going against the germans with riquelme what was cruz going to do without riquelme?
    Just doesnt make any sense

    Good question.

I think in this one though, it almost demands that Henry play alongside another striker in 4-4-2, him favouring the left side of the pitch by the sideline.

Cafu will have to be very careful about how much he pushes up, which in itself is a major part of their game.
Of course, Henry also likes to switch about a bit, and Carlos sitting in the 18 yard box of the opposition is not going to help.

It's starting to come down to some unlikely people. Ribery has to be an effective outlet on the French counter. Ze Roberto has to snuff out the French counter. It's like a Lemmer situation again, the shining moment for a bit part player like Mark Lembke, for those who remember Ameica baseball circa 1991.

Apparently he has resigned - guess we may get the truth now, he'll not hav eto hold back on anything.

Or, it could be definitive proof that he really mucked up :D

TVD has two of the three goals so far today, well done.

i almost named zambrotta captain but i went with simao b/c i have a feeling he will score from a free kick against england

if messi was injured id understand but if he wasnt?
Well he resigned so I guess he knows he shouldve put him in.
