Let The Show Begin...... While Drafted Soldiers and 1800-Brazil.com are quietly confident with the 'road less travelled' strategy, they do want to be On The Road to Berlin and will need to tinker with the squad to do so; also part of the strategy. Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Sailor; Eeny Meeny Miney Mo; Hoc est corpus meum.... The big match, in this hocus pocus strategy, is Tunisia vs Saudi Arabia. The management staff have pondered over which of these two will get the win they need to give them a slither of hope and an ounce of respectibility in a group with European middleweights, Spain and Ukraine. If the 'big two' draw, a win for one of the 'minnows' would start to make things look interesting. Drafted Soldiers did fancy Santos to help Tunisia to victory but player power has proved stronger, as the whole 1800-Brazil.com team want the infamous Al Kahtani on board. The 1800 Football Federation stated at the beginning that they had a trick up their sleeve, if the managers before them didn't pull their rabbit out of the hat. Posted before a single pick had been made, on 22 May 2006, at 12:46 PM Central European Time. The Arabian magician is proud to be a starting member on the 1800-Brazil.com team and is confident he'll score more points than Michael Ballack. IN: Yes indeedy, Al-Kahtani, Saudi Arabia, Forward, 5.5 OUT: Santos, Tunisia, Forward, 7.0 Another little turn of events makes Drafted Soldiers feel that Croatia, while strong enough to cruise past teams like Austria, might not have it in them to trouble Brazil. Holland, or the Netherlands (as some stuffy people insist we call them), won't have it easy to crack open the Serbia-Montenegro defence. However, fearing an Argentine victory against Côte d'Ivoire the Dutch will have to use their surprise package to get in front. Actually, Drafted Soldiers is surprised this young Dutch maestro is still available and is prepared to take another gamble that will make or break the 1800-Brazil.com route to glory, or absolute side-cracking obscurity. OUT: Klasnic, Croatia, Forward, 8.0 IN: Van Persie, Land of Clogs and Tulips, Forward, 8.5 Could this be the striking trump cards we've all been looking for? With 8 Million left in the bank, Let The Show Begin!
Official Lineups, Teams in Alphabetical Order Drafted order has been thrown out of the window, some managers have made some minor adjustments and with just under 30 hours to official lock-in, here's the way the teams are shaping up. Re: Official Lineups, Teams in Alphabetical Order I will leave the analysis to the experts but my co-favorites would be Aviators, Imoffthepost and HandovFringas with potenially a blue light special spoiler from eastern Europe, FCIly. The other white soda looks good on paper but it looks like only 3 or 4 will make it off paper to the pitch. 1-800 the Gus Hiddinuk can he take another group of street urchins deep special. Fc Kraftwork, TomVanDamnstars, Yellowcake Phantoms I won't discuss as part of my Wenger like mind game strategy. Neither FC CANada or Croatia exists. Ohh and the Pete Rose special is RainbowPie Polity as we are betting on ourselves to drink from the cup
Re: World Cup Fantasy - Official Drafted League Competition Thread Here's my promised preview... had to do it over my lunch break, sorry if it doesnt make sense http://officialsmallrocksworldcupblog.blogspot.com/2006/06/pre-world-cup-team-by-team-preview.html
Re: World Cup Fantasy - Official Drafted League Competition Thread As always incredibally well done, except for Wiggum's media shill mis-representing the Cheif Wiggum kidnapping...er alleged improper restraint under color of authority... of Lebo Lebo, which I can discuss no further pending an Interpool and Fifa investigation, results expected in another millenium. And being picked 5th gives us plenty of lockerroom fodder and relieves pressure and expectations.
Re: World Cup Fantasy - Official Drafted League Competition Thread My comments to little Ralph as well! But he's clearly overlooked the one factor not included on a team sheet: coaching. If you consider this factor, Kraftwerk must drop from favorites to maybe 4th or 5th. Which is good, because my summer vacation started today & I'll either be watching games at the pub or suffering the aftermath until this whole world cup thang is over. Watch out for transfers for Angolan benchwarmers featuring countless typo's.
What's The Deal on Sanchez The Mexican Federation say he'll be be flying back in time for Mexico's opening game. Ok, fair enough. But we're not talking about a flight from Baden-Baden to Manchester in a private jet but two transatlantic flights and jet lag. What's his character like? Can he get in the right frame of mind to keep the balls out for his father, or will his mind wander and cost the team a silly goal? Geez, will Ricardo La Volpe even risk starting him? Drafted Soldiers is travelling to Bad Nauheim to take a look at Mohammad Al Deayea.
Re: What's The Deal on Sanchez Manager Djangone just noticed the other day how close his new studio job is to Fox & Hounds, well known to us yanks as the former backdrop for Nick & Steve on Fox Football Friday. This could be trouble. Long lunches, stopovers on the morning route in to catch a few minutes of action...I can see nothing but danger in this.
Re: Let The Show Begin...... Yep, I've been close to pulling the trigger on Van Persie for a while now, since about 2 rounds after I drafted Raul. But Raul has started both recent Spain warm-up games, so I've reluctantly hung onto him.
Re: World Cup Fantasy - Official Drafted League Competition Thread Another health-update transfer. Sneijder's been announced fit, so Hasselhoff sent Kit to bring him to the Kraftwerk training camp in Bad-Bad. out: rodriguez m Argentina 8 in: sneijder m Holland 9
Re: World Cup Fantasy - Official Drafted League Competition Thread darn shucks missed seeing Sneijder being dropped
Goalkeeper Changer With real concerns about the Mexico keeper's mental state and possible jet lag, or if he'll even start against Iran, Drafted Soldiers has opted for the other available Latino. OUT: Sanchez, Mexico, Goalkeeper 5.5 IN: Abbondanzieri, Argentina, Goalkeeper 7.0
Re: Goalkeeper Changer Both Stamford the Lion and Deco deny a training fracas occured, with Deco storming out and boarding a train for Amsterdam, despite reports that an aurgument broke out after Deco being brushed by Stamford's tail in the lunch line, fell to the floor screaming for a red card and injured his foot rolling about. It is simply a coincidence, and match up worrys with Lebo Lebo, that has led Deco to be replaced as Captain for match day 1. No announcement has been made as to the opening Captain; Supah Frankie and Totti are rumoured to be in the running but there are some worries that Essein might break Totti in his lovely exuberence for the game.
Re: Goalkeeper Changer Holy guacamole, Ballack's out, Nesta and Ljungberg are questionable, and I'm working too many hours to see much of the first round. Maybe that's a good thing because it keeps me from swapping out Crespo for Arsenic Love, because someone with a name like that is being groomed by the gods of paradoxery to have a great tourney.
Re: Goalkeeper Changer After coming close to picking up Borowski for the 1st day, I read this morning that Ballack will probably play after all but if you are uneasy I'll trade you for Cambiasso or Deco
Sepp Blatter reveals new FIFA rules Wow. I didn't know defense was illegal at this world cup... the tournament's not 30 minutes old & 3 goals already.
