U19 Training camp: GK KOKUBO Leobrian (SL Benfica/Portugal) SUZUKI Zion (Urawa Red Diamonds Youth) NOZAWA Taishi Brandon (FC Tokyo) DF YAMASAKI Taichi (Juntendo University) NARUSE Shumpei (Nagoya Grampus) NAKAMURA Takumi (FC Tokyo) NISHIO Ryuya (Cerezo Osaka) BANGNAGANDE Kashif (FC Tokyo) BABA Seiya (Tokyo Verdy) HANDA Riku (Montedio Yamagata) SUZUKI Kaito (Jubilo Iwata U-18) SAKO Maaya (Tokyo Verdy Youth) NAKANO Shinya (Sagan Tosu U-18) MF SHIBATA Sosuke (Shonan Bellmare) MATSUOKA Daiki (Sagan Tosu) ODA Yutaro (Vissel Kobe) TAKEDA Hidetoshi (Urawa Red Diamonds) SUZUKI Yuito (Shimizu S-Pulse) YAMAMOTO Rihito (Tokyo Verdy) ARAKI Ryotaro (Kashima Antlers) FUJITA Joel Chima (Tokyo Verdy) NARUOKA Hikaru (Shimizu S-Pulse Youth) TANAKA Satoshi (Shonan Bellmare U-18) FW OMORI Shingo (Juntendo University) SAITO Koki (Yokohama FC) NISHIKAWA Jun (Cerezo Osaka) TOYAMA Shoji (Gamba Osaka) This team will likely be very close to the one going to the AFC U19 in march. Bit sad that Bellmare's Hata is missing, but the other SBs aren't bad at all.
Not just Hata, even Sagan Tosu' Ohata, GKs Obata from Sendi and Fujita from Niigata, FC Tokyo's CB Kimura, and Cerezo Osaka's FW Fujio. However, this list is one of the finest training camp squads in the last few months.
https://www.trollfootball.me/news/v...u18-captain-and-midfielder-kuryu-matsuki-2003 Japan U-19 player Matsuki Kuryu is on a 2 weeks training camp with Lyon U-19. Seems to be a player with decent potential. Hopefully, he can impress and get signed by the club. Of course, he won't play for them so easily, he will most probably be like Koki Saito and Yamato Wakatsuki, etc. and get loaned out for a couple of years while they track his progess. Nevertheless, this would also be a decent help to his progress as a youth player.
It wasn't u22 before? I know some teams sent U20 or u19 teams but officially it was u22 If I remember well. The same format with 40 mins per half?
This is the team U-19 Japan National Team squad - The 48th Maurice Revello Tournament (5/29-6/12@France) Squad GK 23 KIMURA Ryoya (Nihon University) 12 HADANO Soshi (Doshisha University) 1 SATO Ryusei (University of Tsukuba) DF 16 KUDO Kota (Urawa Red Diamonds) 2 KIKUCHI Shuta (Shimizu S-Pulse) 4 NAKANO Shinya (Sagan Tosu) 19 MATSUDA Hayate (Mito HollyHock) 18 YASHIKI Yusei (Oita Trinita) 3 TANAKA Hayato (Kashiwa Reysol) 13 MAEDA Haddow Jay (Blackburn Rovers FC/England) 21 TAKAI Kota (Kawasaki Frontale U-18) 14 TAKAHASHI Cendagorta Niko (FC Barcelona/Spain) MF 6 YAMANE Riku (Yokohama F. I'm not sure, but it seems that this is an experimental squad. Other players like Matsuki, Koda are missing.
Koda and especially Matsuki are already to another level. Don't need to prove themselves at this level (U20). I'm curious to see Takahashi Niko. Kitano should thrive.
Judging by the highlights they really rode their luck. Algeria should've scored 4-5 times but somehow Japan won 1-0, with the only goal coming off a mistake. https://www.soccercatch.com/shows/484536277/japan-u20-vs-algeria-u20---maurice-revello-tournamant
Japan also had a good chance which was blocked by Algeria's GK but overall Algeria were the much better team and should have won by at least a few goals if not for Kimura's saves. Japan need to organize their defence better to avoid leaving large amount of space for the other teams to exploit and also work harder on preventing the other team from having so many clear cut and also 1-1 chances with the keeper.
Saw the full game, Kikuchi and Nakano were disasters tbh. Not sure how much it was about team organization or individual quality here...
Heard that it was mainly the U-20 team there, and it was the Algeria U-23 team on the opposing end. Anyway, Japan's next game is against Comoros which should be easier on paper. Colombia will be the tough nut to crack. If they play against Colombia like they did against Algeria, will not be pretty imo. Especially with the habit Japan has with rotating players at different games at tournaments, there might not be Kimura pulling out all those saves against Colombia again.
Algeria had a mix of older players and players with similar age to Japan. Colombia drew with Comoros. Either the reserve played or they don't have a really strong group.
If it's Shinya Nakano you're talking about, nearly played 50 J1 games at 19 years of age... he'll be fine.
Doubt it. I've seen him play in Jleague too, and he's never shown anything remotely interesting so far. He was a sideback (still is, in the NT) but then Tosu tried to move him as a lateral CB. Indeed, the only reason he's called up is that he's playing a lot.
Sheesh, you're a harsh critic on someone who's not even 20 years of age. Good on him for gaining solid match experience at this stage of his career, he doesn't need to set the league on fire just yet. I remember Hiroki Ito was blasted for his performances leading up to the U20 WC and now he's one of the best rookies in the Bundesliga.
It's true but Hiroki Ito was not playing as a CB yet, and everything changed when Jubilo moved him. It's possible I'm wrong about Nakano, sure. But just want to clarify I'm not saying this after a couple of games. What I'm saying is just that I'm sure there must be better players in his position, at least for now.
Kimura 19 Matsuda 16 Kudo 2 Kikuchi 4 Nakano 14 Takahashi* 6 Yamane 20 Fukui 18 Yashiki 10 Yokoyama 8 Nakamura (left-right) *Barca player Today against Comoros.
