The only info I can find is that they won 4-1. But no other information yet. It was impossible to find a stream.

No, this is the real, serious team. By serious, I mean Paris 2024 candidates.
Only the GKs are experimental (the starting GK will likely be Zion Suzuki)

Disappointing not any comments on the game today. Impressive 5-2

Handa looks better as RB than Uchino. I know he's just back from injuries but hopefully get a chance in Europe soon.
Fukuda with cool finish, Matsumura with super long range.

Still not convinced by Mito, Fujio, Yamada. want to see Yokohama's Uchino, seems to be able to score goals compared to Fujio who's more a presser against superior teams.

I couldn't watch it, that's why no comments haha
But was Argentina's team a "serious" selection?

Well, Avila (Ajax), Almada (MLS but valued at EUR 27,), Alcaraz (Southampton), Buonanotte (Brighton) and Paz (Real Madrid) were all there.

Main missing guy is Garnacho from Man Utd.

So looks a pretty serious squad. Also CONMEBOL's qualifications for Paris 24 are in Jan 24, so Mascherano should be taking these preparations seriously

Interesting callups. Especially since there are a couple of players who could be JNT callups. What's the chance for this U23 to reach the final? Between the other U23 asian teams who's the stronger on the paper?

Yuito Suzuki isn't called up too. Some players are rated highly by their clubs and are not released.

I don't know. Maybe Group C can be the easier? Or Group A taking in account a crushing defeat vs the host nation and then try to win against the other 2 underdogs?

https://www.jfa.jp/national_team/u23_2024/news/00033820/ Japan's squad for the upcoming U-23 AFC Asian Cup.

Surprised that the likes of Seiji Kimura and Taiki Yamada, etc. who has not had much game time this season are called up.

Hope that if Japan progresses to the Olympics in Paris as expected, they will consider the likes of Kubo, Kodai Sano, Koki Saito and Taichi Fukui, etc.

Wow hope leaving Sano out here doesn't bit us in the ass.
Aside from Hirakawa the wingers in this team are once again very weak compared to the past.

Am guessing perhaps the European Clubs and maybe even some of the Japanese club are not releasing players.

Then again not sure why players that aren't playing that much this season are chosen, as there should be more options. Even thought Japan is the favourite, still cannot count out any chances of otherwise happening.

As far as I know the AFC U23 is an official fifa competition so clubs would have been obliged.
That said, yes I think (hope) it was a matter of not wanting to mess with these clubs

It is not and is not in an international window. That is why Australia and Korea also having issues getting Euro based players. I think Yang from Celtic was named in Korea's squad and is blocked by the club. So they've had to get replacement

Nishio is a totally selfish idiot.:mad::mad:

Japan are in the lead, it doesn't look like China have any answers... and then you do THAT! It doesn't matter if the Chinese player bumped into you; DON'T THROW AN ELBOW BY ANY MEANS!

    FT: Japan 1-0 China.

The second half was a much better display of team discipline in order to protect the tiny lead. Nishio better pay dinner for all of his teammates because they held the line after that very selfish gesture of his in the early stages of the match.

Totally uncalled for by Nishio, an obvious red card action that was totally unnecessary. Anyway, good defensive display by JNT even though had some nervy moments at times.
Matsuki is a good player, hope he is able to find a good club in the summer.

Up 2-0 so far against the UAE.
I'd hope for JNT to win their group, so they avoid Qatar in the QF after all the controversies that the host benefited from in their group matches against Indonesia and Jordan.
