Where are you getting 14 months? For comparison purposes to the Chester site is today, and the BMO site in a similar state; (once they started pushing dirt around) the time frame was 16 months. True it's only 2 months difference, but 16 months from today is July, 2010 which means Philly would surely be playing home games somewhere besides Chester.
Incorrect actually. The field is too small for a full international, but not to small for league competition according to FIFA rules. If the stadium isn't ready for a month after the season, I bet we open on the road. If it won't be ready until summer, I bet we play at the Linc.
You could take the R1, R2 (Chester), and R3 from the burbs to University City. Franklin Field is literally right at the stop.
BMO Field opened on April 28, 2007, according to Wikipedia. According to the Toronto forum at the time, the site's previous tenant didn't leave the previous buildings on the site until January 31, 2006. That means they started demolishing the old buildings and doing excavation work at most 15 months before the stadium opening. We didn't have anything to demolish and all of the underground and ground clearing work is apparently already done.
so, where is this stadium web cam, or pictures???? KC has weekly updates on demo, there stadium construction is far away.... i was hoping to finf something.... i guess nike sack is doing a great job for the fans here too....
well didnt u guys break ground? so there must be some kind of constrction, no? like doing the foundations and etc.... does any one have some recent pictures?
i think by reading this thread in its entirety, you'd realize that all underground infrastructure is completed and pile-driving was to commence this week. mother nature may have had a say in that, however, and i'm waiting for a certain someone (hint hint) to confirm/deny this.
wow already that much.... thats awesome.... if the pile driving is going to start then that is some exciting stuff.... if this sit ewasnt an hour away i would so love to go down and see it.... hope they put some up dates up soon.... just tlike the name and colors of the team maybe in 60-90 days....
Hey homeslice. Click back 2 or 3 pages and you will find some pretty recent pics. Thanks for keeping us up to date. edit: before the orndorfing-pg 30.
haha well it took us a few years.... but once construction started, its like flowers being sprung up.... i know you cant go against that.... there has been a lot done at RBA.... i hope its the as down at you guys, stadium goes up fast, your project is much more easy then RBA, im guessing that it will be a nice easy process.... yes i found them!!!! thank you but those are dated at feb. 22, 2009.... if you looked at RBA's pile driving there was a lot done in a 2 week span.... i wonder how it looks now?.... will there be a supporter posting up weekly or every two weeks of a few pictures in phila?
architecture and construction is my bread-and-butter. i've been thinking of doing some type of blog to provide updates on the stadium construction, and to express some of my thoughts and insights on both the stadium design itself as well as the construction process. we'll see if i actually have the ambition to do so, however.
If he should happen to lack the ambition, then you could perhaps introduce him to some 'people' who may be able to help him cure that problem.
Feb 22, Wow you are hard to please. I will take pics more often once the action starts to pic up. Hopefully it's prompt enough for you.
If they could set up The Linc like Seattle has set up Qwest Field, could we live with that? The place looks pretty sweet, very European looking.
