Its gametime! Even though the core of my team wont see action until at least gameweek 3, FC Springfield announces the surprise captaincy of Jamie Carragher for gameweek 1...

This thread is now officially the one stop shop for all season talk, as well as posting transfers and other issues related to the Small Rocks league.

Unlucky, Carragher had to be replaced after 33 minutes in the first half.

Also, very risky move dropping Rosicky for Ljungberg then reacquiring Rosicky just after the deadline passed.

Bad news for me is that Finnan wasn't even on the bench!!! Grrrr.

Doesn't look to be many points coming from defenders this week. 7 games and only one clean sheet so far. And I don't recall anyone stocking up on Bolton defenders.

ETA: Just realized the Bol-Tot game is still early. BBC was showing it as a final for some reason.

I missed that entirely. You mean I spent my entire morning trying to figure how to fit Rosicky and he wasn't even available! That was a risky move, but pulled it off.

My cheapee makes even more sense.

    Out:
    Quinn , M SU 4.5

    In:
    Davis , M PO 5.5

    Bank 0.5

    New Roster:

    Johnson, A , F EV 8.5
    Henry , F AR 14.0
    Zamora , F WH 6.0
    Jagielka , M SU 5.5
    Arteta , M EV 6.0
    N'Zogbia , M NU 7.0
    Davis , M PO 5.5
    Bridge , D CH 4.5
    Ferdinand , D MU 7.0
    Gallas , D CH 7.5
    Konchesky , D WH 5.5
    Taylor , D PO 5.5
    James , GK PO 4.5
    Reina , GK LI 6.5

    Payroll 99.5

Load up on Portsmouth players. That's a new strategy.

The former Championship League boys did ok. Go Reading.

Just as I am typing I hear this noise from the Bolton/Tott match. You have to see the replay of the Davies goal. A Bolton guy is pulling the TH defender to the ground and Davies goes free. Amazing replay.

Now Campo from about 45 yards out. I have to go to work, but this is too much fun.

I waited until 11:29 to do that and stayed at the computer until the game reloaded... completely in control of the situation :D

With no gameweek next week, I wouldn't have picked him up.

That was also behind my thinking... you always have to worry about Hal though... :)

ITs actually crazy what my team is going through with injuries right now. If Carragher is down for a while, I'm really screwed. At least O'Neil and Francis played well today, and Kenny looks like a very capable filler until Cech comes back. Plus Camara looked good for Wigan today.

Gameweek 2 is a write off anyways!

    I'm feeling Gameweek 1 is already a write-off.

Oh well, when Berbatov starts firing we'll be back on track.

No waiting on the bonuses. That was at least part of the irritation. Now its because I have players with 5 bonus points sitting on the bench. But I guess that is not EPL's problem.

Apparently its going to be impossible for a Springfield defender to play the full 90 minutes this season...

Don't see the "Here" button like they had last year. Maybe when they are all done. I had to go through every match in "fixtures."

Without the "Names" doing the scoring so far, one of the trends throughout was the lack of scoring from Captains. Gerrard was about the best. But few would have Zamora, or Bowyer, or Melberg as captain. Well that ended with Hal's Rooney. 13 points so far and almost a sure 3 bonus. Doubled. Made the gameweek for Hal.

Hal, Aren't you glad, at least for this week, that no one took you up on that transfer offer! At least for this week.

Never thought of that as an approach. I let Gameweek 2 dictate my entire draft and transfer strategy. Made it tough when I could not get any more players from AR, LI, NU or WI.

Your approach may be the better one.

No Gallas in the CH starting lineup. Bro kept telling me to dump him and pick up Carvalho. Now Bro has Carvalho.

Memo to Jose and William: "Work this sh*t out Boys."

Not even on the roster. So at least my first sub comes on, and brings his 5 points with him.

That's applicable to pretty much everyone... most of the gameweek 1 captains wont even be playing.

We're a week into the season and the trash talking from the lower leagues is already at a fever pitch... :D

Why? Didn't they see which league had the overall high score?

Had to ride Rooney's captaincy before he sits on the bench for three weeks.

My last minute trades before the transfer window closed came through for me. Campbell subbed in with 9 and Mendes was ready to sub in with 4.

I was about ready to dump Silvestre and Finnan, but with Heinze (injury), Scholes (friendly discipline) and Rooney (friendly discipline) out, Silvestre might get some more time and with Carragher (injury) and Riise (injury) out, Finnan should definitely start.

The "Names" kicked in. Captain Rooney, Captain Lampard, Captain Terry, etc., made all the difference. Only Captain Henry and Captain Shevchenko, of the top 5 picks, failed to contribute. But I like our chances that these and guys like Captain Berbatov will make major contributions in the future.

Most impressive thing this weekend, for me, was our Kansas City Kopite scoring 46 with J Cole, A Cole and R Keane on the bench and Neill getting a Red Card. Would seem that is a lot of upside for this group.

Least impressive was my d*mn brother getting ahead of me again this year on scoring from Lampard. We did this last year and I don't need a repeat this year.
