OK, things look bleak right now. The boys have lost three league games in a row, they haven't held a lead during a game since the Chicago game, they couldn't score in a brothel, and they're gone from contending for the Supporters Shield to being on the verge of not having home-field advantage in the playoffs.

Yes, things look bad. But all is not lost. Let us remember a pivotal moment from one of the classics of American cinematography, Animal House:

Any chance of Jefferies chaning the line up? Maybe Ronnie O' and E.J. (so maybe he can redeem himself) up front? Probably not, just a thought I've seen popular with everyone else.

Does it look like Jason will be sitting out this game?

Considering that he'd be suspended for the 1st playoff game if he picks up a yellow vs. DC, I don't think it's worth the risk to start him.

Maybe Kreis should begin the game on the bench and plan on enterring the match only if the Burn are tied late in the game and need a little extra scoring punch.

If we can't beat the worst team in MLS, we'll be done playing by the end of September.

4 losses in a row going into the playoffs against Colorado. Too much bad mojo.

Pareja is back. Yes we'll be missing Suarez and Broome, but we've still got Morrow and Bonseu back there. Who will be playing outside D? Zarco and Percy. Its' not like DC has a dangerous offense.

Kreis should start, I would hope. So, what are we looking at here:

    --------Kreis---------Rhine----------
    Chivas--------Pareja------------Vaca
    -------------Deering-----------------
    Percy----Morrow-----Bonseu----Zarco
    --------------Jordan-----------------

Ronnie O coming at minute 60. Boy, having Cerritos out sure makes that bench get thin quickly.

I actually feel pretty confident we can take this game. It is time to end this slide.

Dallas 2 Dips 0. And pray like KC beats the Crapids.

Imagine the boost that would give the team. A miracle in Colorado and an ass kicking to D.C. I'm not counting on anything considering our last 4 games, but it needs to be done.

If we can't beat D.C. we don't deserve to be in the Playoffs, I don't care if it's there or not.

Put Belushi up front. He'd score a goal or two.

We need him in central defense, kind of clogging up the middle.

What we need is Bobby Rhine to get off a few shots.

AND for them to actually go into the goal, not just wide or off the post.

I just finished watching the tape of the Revs game. Percy actually looked good in the second half, AS A MIDFIELDER. Please O please don't put him in defense again!

Steve Morrow said on Inside Soccer that Matt Behncke might be playing left back vs. DC.

Morrow thinks Behncke can do a good job filling in for Broome at left back (recall that Matt played pretty well there a couple weeks ago vs. Colorado) and likes the desire he shows to work hard to improve his play.

    Jason & Caution Points

    I read on MLS.net:

    http://www.mlsnet.com/content/02/weekly0917.html

that caution points from the final games DO NOT carry over into the playoffs.

So resting Jason would be for injury only, not for caution points.

I was going to post that this couldn't be right and then I saw that MLS had changed the regulations about card carry-overs. I'm not sure I like them doing that mid-stride but I guess they can.

Here are the old rules ...

Looks like like you guys got a break here.

I good to hear they've changed the rules re yellow card suspensions carrying over into the playoffs.

As I recall, prior to 2001 they did carry over yellow card suspensions into the postseason.

But last year they decided not to do so since the regular season was unexpectedly cut short due to 9/11.

Salazar is going to ref this one, according to MLSnet.

    Kiss this one goodbye.

At least the Rapids are a team we can beat on the road.

Ah well, how lucky can the Burn get? Such a high quality referee for their important game on national tv, against DC United. How much good luck can the Burn get for 3 league games in a row?

I cannot WAIT for Salazar to hand this one over. And everyone who reads this knows that it's MORE likely that he WILL make a JUDGEMENT CALL that hands the game to United, THAN make a JUDGEMENT CALL that benefits the Burn.

All caution points go back to zero for the playoffs (I'm not sure about Red Cards)

i thought we got our one gift call this year on saturday over the mathis ejection, surely we couldn't get two gifts in a row. however as a desparate team we'll take it.
