When will the 'free trade' period begin?

 

And can everybody please update Google Docs with their last round picks, so when the 'free trade' period begins there is no confusion about which players are owned by managers. We had some trouble in Sand last season (mid season)because of this issue. I don't wish to have these quarrels this season. Happy managers makes for happy competition.

 

I'd be in favor of setting a time that the transfer window will open. I think it's more fair to have an announced time that the window opens instead of a short window that occurs immediately after the final selections are made.

I don't think the teams that make the final selections should also be in a prime position to make transfers immediately, as they are directly dictating when the draft ends; and with a short countdown until the transfer window opens, they are essentially benefiting further from picking last and late. Especially considering that a number of picks haven't been made in a timely manner over the course of the draft, regardless of the reason. It would be nice to have a set time that the window opens instead of further relying on the unreliable timing of draft selections to dictate other league events.

A countdown to open transfers only works if there is ample time to make it fair for everyone to be aware and prepare, and we don't have the time for that to be an option. Our draft isn't even completed yet, so I would recommend setting a time that the window will open so managers can get sorted in time for week 1; even if the transfer window opens before the draft is complete.

Teams should have an opportunity to make transfers prior to week one, and at this point I think there has been ample time for the draft to complete. Those that haven't selected yet can't be too critical, considering the last 24 hours have allowed teams to select players at will, regardless of draft order.

 

Always a problem finding a time that works for everyone given all of the times zones.

Early US (10 am eastern, 7 am pacific), midday Euro (2 pm), late night in Australia (10 pm in Perth)? All would be Friday.

Or, you miss the window and wait until Australia wakes up, it's...

Early morning in Australia on Saturday (7 am in Perth), late night on Friday in Euro (12 midnight), mid afternoon Friday in U.S. (7 pm eastern, 4 pm pacific)?

Check my times to make sure they're right, and then make sure you have someone in U.S. Pacific or dont have anyone in other Austalia times as that could broaden or shrink your window. Obviously, if people know they won't make moves, they should announce that as it may give more flexibility in finding a good time if it's only 4 or 5 as opposed to all 8 of you.

 

What about our transfer period opening 12 hours before the Premier League site deadline?

If there haven't been any objections to this point, I would recommend having the transfer window open 12 hours before the Premier League site deadline.

Though I think the USA Eastern time should be 6:45 PM, as that is six hours behind the United Kingdom.

Someone else please verify. I'm not worldly enough to be comfortable with time zone conversions.

Either way, if we make the transfer period open 12 hours before the Premier League game deadline, users should be able to figure out what that is in relation to their location.
