It wasn't a permanent move, but Nashville has an option to extend the loan through 2025 as well as an option after that to buy him permanently. Galaxy also have an option to recall Perez from loan in the summer of 2025, which could happen if, for example, Pec is transferred abroad or Puig is slow to recover and Fagundez is needed centrally rather than on the wings. It's hard to know what Nashville will do with Perez, who was acquired mostly to help fill in after Boyd's injury. He only played 6 games, with no goals or assists, for the senior squad and played 3 more with the Nashville MLNP side, for whom he scored two goals. If Nashville exercises the option to extend Perez' loan through 2025, Galaxy get the rights to forward Lyam MacKinnon, a Nashville draft pick who was named USL league 1 Player of the Year in 2024 (along with Golden Boot winner) with Greenville Triumph, where he scored 23 goals and had 8 assists in all competitions. MacKinnon is too old and too good for USL1 (he's 25 and played DI at Villanova), but he's Swiss and he chose to sign with Greenville rather than Nashville (likely to preserve his possibility of moving back to Europe). I'm guessing he would be a transfer asset for the Galaxy, but he could be useful if he had his green card. Perez' contract with us runs through 2026, so even if Nashville exercises the option to keep him for the 2025 season (and pays us with the rights to MacKinnon), we would get something else if they want to exercise his buy option after that.
Pec os pretty much the goner guys. Galaxy won't be able to say no to the amounts they will be offered.... Unfortunately... They say right now Liverpool and Arsenal expressing the interest...
A little postscript on Mackinnon. As far as I know, we could still acquire his MLS rights if Nashville exercises the option to keep Perez through the end of 2025. https://bsky.app/profile/njemurray.bsky.social/post/3lggpxudmf226
