There were a lot of written yes/no ones as well which were all variations on are you a communist, have you ever been a communist or supported a communist, do you want to be a communist. If you told me Joseph McCarthy wrote the questions I’d believe you.

In my interview I got one that was something like “what was the United States most concerned about the Soviet Union in the 1960s” and went on a who diatribe about the domino effect in south east Asia and the bay of pigs scandal, nuclear proliferation. I got the answer wrong. The answer was communism.

Galaxy winning (this time) the MLS rights competition. With the Cincinnati pick and their natural pick, the Galaxy will likely have two late first-round picks to use (or to trade) next year.

Former Houston Dynamo DP. Was he on our discovery list or did we acquire his rights at some point in a trade with the Dynamo?

I had the exact same question after reading the MLS news post. There was no mention of how the Galaxy had obtained a right of first refusal.

I didn't remember it and i just checked, it was indeed never announced.

I've been following MLS for nearly 20 years and at first I found all these mechanisms and all these particularities funny. After all these years I'm so tired of this sh*t, it's hard to keep up with all these rules when there are so many hidden trades, rules, roster mechanics... As MLS will grow these stupid rules will prevent the league to be taken seriously.

Good signing. He's clearly the most ready of the young guns.

My understanding is that Ramos and Harbor Miller both signed pre-contracts earlier this year, so I assume we'll see an announcement for Miller as well soon.

We would be foolish to transfer Joveljic now, but remember Dejan's contract ends next year and I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave this winter.

I agree. Especially, given the supposed promise to be more self-funding (by developing and selling players). On the other hand, I think that Dejan's injury status this year has lowered his value. The wild card is the possibility of MLS's player roster rule changes.

I’m not sure if we could even do business with a Russian club. At a minimum, figuring out a payment method would be insanely difficult.

CoG confirms that Delgado's option is a club option, so he's really not a free agent unless the Galaxy choose to let him go or want to reduce his salary.

Anyone see any treasures in here in the "out of contract" category. I figure anyone of quality with a "pending option" category will be re-signed.

Thinking about our roster and next season, I can imagine us looking for another center forward, another central midfielder, maybe center back depth?

I think Yashida's contract is up. I think that is our only regular starter other than the previously mentioned MDG. Am I missing anyone?

Per the Club Roster Profiles that were released on May 2 of this year, Yoshida was under contract through 2024, so I assume you are correct. I don't recall seeing an announcement and there is nothing in Transfermarkt about a contract extension. Of course, given MLS's lack of transparency, it's possible that the Galaxy and Yoshida did come to an agreement that the MLSPA is aware of and we are not.

MLSPA wouldn't put Yoshida on this list in any event because Yoshida doesn't have the years of MLS service to be eligible for free agency

Thank you for pointing out this absurd MLS rule that makes him a free agent to every team in the world except those in MLS.

If I read the 2023 rules for the re-entry draft correctly, if he doesn't resign with the Galaxy and they fail to make him a "Bona Fide Offer", he becomes subject to the MLS reentry draft process unless he opts out. What's weird, (assuming I have read the opt-put process correctly), that makes him an MLS free agent subject to the Galaxy holding the Right of First Refusal on his services.

    Lest we forget:
“The Galaxy are still the Galaxy though: fun in a lot of ways, but so vulnerable in the air in general and on set pieces in particular that it’s impossible to take them seriously as any kind of contenders.”

That’s one reason Garces and probably Micovic or some other GK are likely important long-term. I half think that’s why Neal is growing out his fro too. Makes him look taller and obscures the vision of attackers on set plays

Club Roster Profiles Fall 2024 (as of Sept. 17).pdf

Great roster construction information for across the league. No surprises to my eyes on our build.

Can anyone explain to me the LAFC international slot construction. It says they have 10 slots, but they have 14 players listed with only 3 guys shows as being off roster (loans out) so that leaves them with 11 internationals.

It's the only team I saw where it wasn't obvious how they were compliant. What am I missing? Is it because their new defender Marlon hasn't played yet and they have some decision left to make?

Also interesting that Vela, after holding out for a DP contract, returned on less than a TAM contract and with a club option for next year so they can dick him around some more this offseason.

I read that they traded some GAM to another team to sign the new defender. Maybe that trade and intl slot hasn't been updated into that article yet?
