heard that Japan is considering using Europe based players, like Nakamura (29, Celtic), Matsui (26, Le Mans) and Inamoto (28, Frankfurt) for the Olympics as wild cards.

That would be nice. For the last Olympics Japan chose Takahara, Ono, and Sogahata (Kashima keeper). Takahara ended up not participating because of illness, so the injury-weakened Ono was the only overage field player.

My only problem with the guys named above is that there is no FW. U23 Japan have had horrible finishing so far, so why not give Takahara the chance he lost last time.
Or is the young Okazaki really that good?

    And why not Sato Hisato?
It is not really probable but in my opinion, it is one of the best finisher that Japan has never had.
He could be complementary with Sota or with Yasuhito.
    I dream, i dream, haha...

he'd get redded in about 10 minutes if the refs are anything like they have been in China recently.

nah, i remember okubo as an olympic warm up against australia back in 2004, man that guy can dive good, it was sweet, the aussie player that he stole the ball off, was looking in blank space thinking where the ball went, it was sweet.

I don't think Sanfrecce Hiroshima let him go.
The J2 games are played during the Olympic Games.

If you´d ask me i´d say your U-23 Strikers are just fine. Look at the results, 4-0, 6-0 etc and the goals are mostly scored by strikers, i mean how often do you see that in Asia?:p Anyway good luck Japan in Beijing this summer. I hope we can show the world that Asia also can play great football.

On JFA site, it was in japanese and I can only read a little, but I think it said that Japan U23 was going to play the full Angola NT.

Anybody know anything or can go to JFA site (japanese)

    http://www.jfa.or.jp/daihyo/u_23/080327_kokuritsu/

This is the link to the site. Could anybody quickly tranlate what's going on?

    Cheers.

Yep, Japan U23 against Angola (not U23, the full NT), on 3/27 (Thu) 19:15, at the Kokuritsu, Tokyo.

Nice, I doubt Angola will bring a good team though even if it is the "full" NT.

Thats good, angola aren't a bad side so its a good game for Okada to judge the U23 strikers and see what's what.

    Look forward to that.

Re: Official Olympic (U23) Japanese NT Thread [R]

Cheers. I reckon Angola would've picked this as a sort of Tune up game . The idea for them being to beat the crap out of U23 team. Because if it was for a challenge, they would've left it a week or two and played Japan NT. I don't get why Angola are sending a team over just to play the U23 side.

And we'll be able to judge Japan U23 at an international level to a degree. See what's coming for 2014

Do you have an idea of what kind of country is Angola...? You think they would turn down the chance to a trip to Japan...??

BTW, whywhywhy after Mboma no Japanese team picked a decent African player??

The Athens Olympic team also played Russia full NT and they tied 1-1.
I think it's Tulio's debut game for Japan.

I don't remember if it was his debut game but he scored Japan's goal that game right?

Anyway, Russia brought their reserves that game and I assume Angola will do the same. Never know though.
