I don't think we will see JMM this weekend but maybe for the home opener. I suspect we will see the same starting lineup that started the Cup match.

    Revs win 2-1

SN to team: "okay, all you guys who started our last MLS game, get out there".

Revs struggle with cohesion in 1st half as they haven't played in daylight in 3 weeks, not to mention that patch that passes for a professional field. Fire has trouble establishing an offensive threat w/o Razov, Kova, Stoich or Wolff.

Revs score a 2nd half goal when Wolde (why not?) finishes off a bungled clearance from Curtin or CJ's replacement. Revs, 1-0 final.

I would say it's certain that JMM is out for Sunday. Chicago is more banged up, though. Dipsy, Razov (suspension) out. CJ Brown may be out. Faria and Marsch also fighting injuries. Naperville will have a tiny sell-out (5k, I think I read, is all they can seat right now), and I hate the plastic, but this match is for the taking.

    Brown
    Pierce Llamosa Kante Franchino
    Ralston Heaps/Cullen Hernandez Kamler/Griffiths
    TT Wolde

Llamosa hasn't been practicing much so I'm betting he will be starting the season on the bench along with JMM.

I don't think SN will use the ultra-defensive lineup he did in last years playoffs in Chi (4-5-1) but will go with his regular 4-4-2

    Brown
    Heaps, Rusty, Kante, Franchino
    Ralston,Hernandez,Cullen,Kamler
    TnT, Woldi

    Subs: Noonan, Llamosa, Moore

I don't expect to see JMM play unless they need him for a spark in late going.

Revs will get a point but more likely three points.

    How about:

    ----------------- Brown -----------------
    Heaps - Pierce - Kante - Franchino
    Ralston-Cullen-Hernandez-Kamler
    ----------- Twellman, Harris -----------

    Significant Bench:
    JMMoore, Noonan, Llamosa, Joseph, Reis

I would be pleasantly surprised by an away win, but I expect a draw at best. Not that this is a traditional Rev team (from years past), but we have always done poorly in the early season, and against teams that have not fielded their best players.

Duplicating last weeks Galaxative-Crew score, 1-1.

    ------------------------

Nowak, Wolff, Stoichkov and Kovalenko are gone.
    Razov suspended.
Still have to contend with DMB. Also Thornton, Bocanegra and old friend Andy Williams.

Fire are a young team with a new coach. Not quite sure what to expect out of them. Someone posted in another thread that Jeff Bradley predicted a 0-0 draw. I think 1-1 would be more likely. However, if CJ Brown isn't playing there should be more space for Revs forwards and we could grab a win. Probably 2-1.

    2 cents...

    ---------Brown---------
    Heaps - Rusty - Kante - Joey
    Ralston - Cullen - Danny - Kam
    ---------TT - JMM--------

Joe-Max plays first 45, then Harris for the last. Wouldn't be surprised to see Noonan sometime in 2nd half, for Kamler.

TT gives us the lead, but Faria gets one back late. One point to take home from Naperville.

You guys are pessimistic. I like the JMM 1st, Wolde second idea. DH with a restart goal in the 35th minute. Fire retaliate through Williams in the 54th. Twellman begins '03 campaign in 65th minute with ugly, but effective goal. Wolde finishes up night with insurance goal in 88th. Revs, 3-1.

I've watched the first two ABC/ESPN2 games and felt that even in the poor conditions at Dallas there was a fair amount of skill on display and that the MLS game is getting closer and closer in marking in the midfield. If this continues to be the case in Chicago I suspect that the Revs/Fire matchup will be even more up tempo and possibly pretty ugly, given the poor width of the pitch. So scrappy goals, lots of fouls and a draw, if we are lucky. And I suspect this first match will be the beginning of a severe season-long exam of our good fortune accumulated over the last 1/3 of the 02 season.

Good luck to the Revs but I think we will see much, much better football in the home opener next week.
