I hear couple of time Marsh speak and the way he talk look like he was hired on the middle of the last season, he say he study pretty good last year the RBNY the way they were playing under the direction of Petke and that he will change all of that for this year, that he has enough time to know what he want for the team and bla, bla and bla....

 

Translation:

"I'm telling you we're going to sign DP's right now to string the fan base along (what's left of it anyway)....

...Once we've had 15 straight tie games to start the season I'll announce that we are so close to having a winning team that we don't need to spend big money on DP's...

...then when we end up having a shit season I'll say that not signing a DP was a mistake and that management is learning from this and you should trust us next year....

...and then in the off season we'll sign the cheapest DP available...probably a defender...or a goalie."

Rinse. Repeat.

Is looking like they are proud in saying: Under marsh we will have a new system, a new style and contrary at what they think, that is the wrong with this our team, if we look at teams like galaxy, they have 3/4 changes every year and what happen, they have consistence, they only add 3/4 players to better the team and we, every season we have 14/20 changes and we go back to 1996 and every year is a 1996 and start all of new again and again.... IDIOTS....

If you're Ali Curtis does your 300 page plan say to extend an olive branch and invite him to trial or does it say to send a message to all future academy kids by leaving him out in the cold?

 

The question is.... Which Program?...... They have not any....... Just have a new team every March when the season is open...... Not consistence and not anyrhing......

 

Which why it doesnt really make sense to get worked up over any signings or how the team is built.

Wether you like it or not, we know the team will be changed over completely the year after next. A 180 every 2 or 3 years tops before we star over again.

We are not building anything. We are doing something that's much closer to renting.

I am either hoping we are fantastic or completely suck. The mid-table fake "we made the playoff" success does nothing for me.

Exactly. Sam is so much better, but as cover at a decent price, I'm fine with give him a shot.

 

I fully agree with this last sentiment (really just the "completely suck" part). Of course if it all does go down in flames this year, what's the reward? Another rebuilding. You can't win by losing and you can't win by winning. Petke proved that.

Crap. The real takeaway here is they don't want to spend the money on a big name. And it sounds like they would only make that move out of desperation, which is hardly the right approach. If you don't already have a solid team then it is a waste of money to bring in a top talent and not accomplish anything.

I'm not sure which is worse, hoping to the skate through this season on low expectations or hoping that a new DP is the ace in the hole against an even worse season.

 

Another Petke-era casualty, Christianson waived.

 

Sucks. I liked his game. He's gonna have a career.

 

I really thought he had potential to spell Dax off the bench this year, now who do we have as a backup there? For all the CM's we have, now only Lade could potentially come in if Dax needs a rest or gets hurt, and I liked Christianson much better in that spot from the limited minutes we saw last season.

Nobody seems all that confident that he'll land on our USL team either.

 

Strange. I thought he looked really REALLY good last season even if it was just a few minutes here and there.

 

At least we finally signed a reliable strike partner for BWP.

So who is the starting left mid? Bover? Richards? Kljestan/Stolz?

 

What more could you ask for than a guy who has averaged 2-3 goals a season his entire career? Sounds like a slam dunk.

 

Based on what Marsch has said so far, best bet is probably Kjlestan. Maybe if they resign Richards, which I would ********ing love, then Sam moves to the left. Sam would do well on the left as well I think, he's got a good left footed cross and is good enough on the ball to dribble infield.

 

Depending on how he looks in camp and based off the press I've read I'd say Stolz has the inside track while Zizzo is his experienced backup should he get injured or hit a wall.

Based off everything I've read/heard we'll likely line up like this:

----------Felipe-Dax
Miller-Miazga-Zubar-Duvall
-------------Robles

We should control the ball fine in midfield and make things difficult on our opponent, but the 2 biggest question marks are:

1. Can this team provide the ball to BWP enough?
2. Can this defense hold up?

Obviously #2 is the biggest question. Why?

1. Miazga was prone to big time errors last year.
2. Zubar is a completely unproven commodity in MLS and it usually takes a full season for European players to adjust to the league.
3. Duvall is likely to have the sophomore slump. Which will not only open up the flood gates on the right side, but has the added negative effect of pulling either Dax or Sam back to help cover. I'm not sure which is worse. Pulling Dax out of the center of the field repeatedly has it's obvious problems, and if Sam has to track back that means he's spending less time doing his main job which is attack attack attack.

The season hinges on the moves (or lack thereof) the front office made at CB, RB and ST.

I did enjoy this article from Brian Lewis on Zubar though. At the very least it seems like he'll be a good locker room guy.

I would think swap Kljestan and Filipe, Kljestan's not a 10. I was thinking Jean Baptiste would start, he showed alot more for Portland a couple years ago than Miazga has
