I think the entire fan base agrees with you.

 

I would never advocate throwing Miazga out there without him first earning the minutes in training or through performance, but he definitely has future MLS starter written all over him. He made some glaring mistakes, sure, but that stuff is to be expected with a guy who turned 19 during last season.
The important thing is he has time to grow over the next 2-3 years and become a legitimate rock back there. He has good feet, he's good in the air and naturally athletic and he opens his hips, turns with minimal fuss and accelerates. That stuff can't be taught and when he irons out the kinks through increased playing time and natural maturation we'll be looking at a solid CB.
I thought he played very well in the U20 qualifying and his confidence was apparent at that level. Once he gets more confidence against MLS attackers we'll see him blossom.

 

Yea, you can't be too harsh on a 19 YO CB. Seemingly he's got the tools (Miazga).

 

Whit the RBNY II now http://www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/redbulls2.php?article_id=40099 they will have chance to develop this players and give them the minutes they need, this it is a big step and glad that finally the RBNY are thinking with the head and not with beverage can on mind......

This is one of the most important if not THE MOST important developments in MLS history.

Can someone clear up the league mandate on the usl teams for me? At first I thought red bull was doing this of their own volition.

 

As far as I know, MLS teams have to either 1) start their own USL PRO team, or 2) affiliate with an established team, although I don't believe it had to be a USL PRO team.

Right. So...

They didn't have to fund their own team. They could have gone with a cheaper affiliation option. So for that I give them props.

However, I seriously doubt they would have done anything at all if the league hadn't mandated it.

 

Oh yeah, no doubt, Roxburgh basically said as much if I recall correctly. Seemed like they were leaning towards the affiliate for a good amount of last year, not sure what made them swing towards their USL Pro team either.

To me, going the affiliate route seems like a total waste of time. It would likely just amount to the equivalent of a few mid-season loans, and we saw how well that worked out with Lade...

 

I actually have a theory on that which ties into the failure of red bull and the ESC to combine their efforts on branding the USL side.

My theory is that red bull did not want to give any marketing power to an affiliate club. They wanted red bull colors, designs, etc. Full control.

Red bull after all is most concerned with their brand. Not their soccer.

That OR they are sweetening the infrastructure pot for a potential buyer. In which case a private team would be more appealing than an affiliation. A buyer can walk in and have all the infrastructure, facilities, etc. ready to go. All they have to do is change the sign on the door.

 

Why would a team even consider branding a team anything other than in the style of the parent club?

New York Red Bulls II is a perfect name.

 

It's a unique situation to this franchise where they could have done damage control and reconnected themselves with the die hards.

It's boring, but who cares. We have a USL team. Moving on...

 

It's supposed to be boring, it's a reserve team.

There are many ways the team can work to improve its relationship with the fan base. I don't think any of them should involve the name of a reserve team.

 

The affiliate idea was a idiot idea, the own second team is the way to go, now instead of 30 players they can have 60 a lot of player where to choice 18 players for each game and a place to rehabilitate and develop players.....

 

Like I said: who cares. I don't. But apparently red bull did. Enough to invite the ESC in only to tell them "our way or the highway"...per usual.

Well, at least it is officially someone else's problem. I'm sure this is going to come down to money, but it sure seems like he flat out doesn't want to play for Montreal.

 

Weird situation which we'll probably never know the details to. But yes, it sure sounds like he hates the idea of playing in Montreal. That or there is some sort of financial issue we aren't aware of.

 

Watch us get screwed on this Oypngo trade by M L S with their idiotic rules....

Weird to cut him but not announce if he'll be part of the USL side.

 

Disjointedness is one of the hallmarks of this franchise.
