    No readmission is sucky.

I think we'll do well against a bucket of paint. I like the pre-game quotes and although the Crudites may be playing for positions in next year's squad, I'm not sure that's enough motivation against a top team at home with pride and playoff momentum at stake.

Wait, the Crew can't stake their pride.

    They have none.

I know it's hard for us fans to get up for a match against the inept Crew, especially with the Supporters Shield in hand, but think of this: On the Big Soccer Crew site they refer to DC United as "the Scum!" Them's fightin' words! Everyone knows there is only one "Scum," and that's NY/NJ. Sure, you can call yourself the Red Bulls if you want, but to me you are still the New York/New Jersey Metro Scum.

The knowledge that Crew fans have assigned this copyrighted insult to DC United makes me want to close out the season by administering a crushing defeat to the Yellow Football Team. I would like it better if it were done by our reserves.

Columbus still has a team? Go figure.

What we need is a good old fashioned blow out by the home team to get some good momentum heading into round 1.

For what its worth on the (purely speculative) Jaime Moreno front - the news from here in La Paz is that American Airlines flights are likely not going in and out of Bolivia until 19th (or they have been officially 'canceled' until then the last I heard - might turn out to be canceled beyond that or short of that). Some information here - a temporary agreement has been reached, lets hope it holds up. This is the sort of thing that could be resolved this afternoon or not for a few days. I don't know how Jaime gets to DC, but most folks I know go from La Paz to DC through AA in Miami. But, who knows, I'd imagine he could still get to Miami (and to DC by Saturday) if this thing persists as there are other airlines still operating (though flying much less regularly than AA to Miami).

It only affects AA and only Bolivia. Even assuming he's still down there and/or didn't travel straight back, he can take another carrier back to the US or take a different carrier to another place AA lands and come back from there. I'll be shocked if this really affects his date of arrival back here.

The real question is Evo going to charge him for a visa since Jaime's an LPR!!!

Even if Moreno does get back in time, what of his ankle? Is he healthy enough to play? I was hoping he could play the second half, so he gets some action and we get our form with him on the field back, and his fitness is where it needs to be for Round 1. If we play Chicago, we will need his ball-controlling presence in a big way, this is the best way to get around the Armas-hacks-Gomez defense..

This is a MUST WIN game.
I repeat, a MUST WIN game.

    Why, you ask.

Well, every year since the begining, I have tried to predict the number of wins United would get. And every year I've been wrong. I've missed it by one twice. This year my personal prediction was 17 (my old jersey #, my lucky #). The team owes me this. Come on guys, do it for me.

Properly inspired, a victory is assured.

Didn't he have an ankle injury before being called up to Bolivia this week? I read articles about Soehn's desire for Bolivia's coaches to go easy on his playing time because of it.

Since I think this year's team is better than last year's team, I hope we eclipse last year's win total of 16 this weekend!

I agree, at least for the first half, but with Soehn's stated intent to get some good form going I would expect to see the fovored 11 at least start the game. Maybe he'll sub off Gomez and Moreno, play Fred out wide all game to build his fitness (he came off early last weekend, on his way back from injury) and Olsen on the other side. I thought Dyachenko didn't do too badly last weekend in the middle for Gomez, we could sub him in and put Kpene up top, hope he can finally get a goal so we don't head to the playoffs with our only goals this year from forwards coming from Moreno and Emilio.
We will need to be in form if we play Chicago next week, so we better work out the apathy and get hungry. We don't have the physical exhaustion working against us like last year, so hopefully the team will breathe fire at least in the first half and put the game away early.

I think Sigi the Hutt will be moving on to a new buffet table at the end of this year. But, there will always be suck...I mean, teams in MLS and USL that will hire him. Yes, USL. Man gotta eat, ya know.

    I want two things:

    1) I want to win (or at the very least tie) this game. It may mean nothing standings-wise to us or to Columbus, but I agree with (I think) Olsen who said we need to go into the playoffs with other teams wondering if we ever lose. That's important.

    2) I want Emilio to score at least three goals and help wrap up MVP. Some people say he shouldn't be MVP because we otherwise have a fairly talented team. That's true. But Emilio has truly saved our asses on a lot of occasions this year -- absolutely stealing the win at KC comes to mind, for instance. There's no way we win the Supporter's Shield without Emilio's contributions.

I agree. The team has plenty of time to rest up but we didn't look too good against Chicago so rust and not fatigue is the bigger concern over the next two weeks. Some semblance of the starters should be on at the same time, either half.

If there's any player they ought to rest, it's Fred, for the reason you mention above. He's very likely still recovering; let him heal.

Resting Christian or Jaime (for more than a half or so) would be stupid, IMHO. We need Jaime to play, since he's been out, to get back in synch with the team, and Christian needs to keep his rhythm with everyone as well.
I think Fred can sit and heal, or come in for Benny at wing when they take him out.

Sign Marco to a one-day player contract and sub him in for the last 10 minutes of the Columbus match.
