Chicago Fire (0-0-2, 2pts) at Kansas City 6:30 CT (1-0-1, 4 pts) TV: Fox Sports Chicago and Fox Sports World Radio: Polish: (WNVR-AM 1030) Spanish (WNTD-AM 950 Radio Unica).
To induce vomitting, watch game. 2-0 KC at the half. Once again, no offensive ideas and when KC scored first, you knew the game was over. Razov's absence better be the reason we're not scoring because so far nobody (Yes, I'm looking at YOU, Mr. Faria and Mr. Beasley) looks like they're going to step up this year and take the burden from Ante's shoulders. time to get that useless Faria out of there and put in one the kids. Shiva knows the kids would have to be on KC's payroll to do any worse. In the mid-field, we look OK. Williams is by far our best player, followed by DMB and Armas. We do also miss Marsch, who won't be back for another month. Defensively, we do not look nearly as good as we did even against DC. Preki has been like a hot knife through butter. Ugh, just ugh. I feel sorry for the folks who went down there. I'll only have wasted two hours on this rubbish.
Perez with a wonderful individual effort to fire a rocket past Meola from 30 yards out. That's gotta be a GOTW finalist, if not GOTY. I must say, KC is just sitting back on their lead in true Ganslerian fashion. I hope it comes back to bite them in the ass.
YES!!! Take THAT, Gansler, you catenaccio-playing dope! KC bunkers and Andy Williams makes them pay with another long range bomb! 2-2 and it's a game again, folks! Credit to the Fire for not giving up when I was ready to stick a fork in them. Two outstanding individual efforts. I wish they were the result of purposefiul team play, but damn, I'll take it!! Now to make sure we don't become as complacent as KC did now that the Wizards will go back to trying to score.
Damani Ralph in for Faria. Thank you, Dave! AND HE FUCKING SCORES!!!!!!! 3-2 Fire!!!! Holy freaking SHIT! edited to say it was Ralph who scored. 3 goals from outside the box. I haven't seen outside shooting like this since John Paxson played for the Bulls.
Anybody taping this game? I am unfortunately up in 'consin this weekend with no access. I want to watch the game!
Wolff walking off the field with a possible tweaked hammy. KC has already used all their subs. If Wolff can't come back, they play with 10 guys.
Re: Re: To induce vomitting, watch game. It gets even better for the Fire. Oshonyi into the game as Meola dons field player gear to become 10th field player. This Fire team is schizo. As utterly garbage as the Fire looked in the first half, Williams (my first half Man-of-the-half) and Perez took charge and hauled us back into it and Ralph in for Faria (maybe Dave has a link to BigSoccer on the sidelines ) produces immediate results. Gotta love it. I no longer feel sorry for the Fire fans in KC. In its own way, this game has to feel as good for them as the 7-0 thrashing I was down there for.
well, shucks, and here i was posting in the game thead...the game isnt over why are you posting in postgame? all you're doing is confusing me... only two minutes left, still 3-2...overall i think we've been playing like an entirely different team tonight. gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling about the rest of the season...
The Fire also need to give a big "Thank you!" to Bob Gansler for trying to bunker for the entire second half, which let us back into the game. Nice move, Bob.
I think you mean "an entirely different team during the second half. The first half was as bad or worse than DC. Only if it's the Revs/second half KC team and not the DC/first half KC team. With Razov, things should get better. With Marsch back, better still. It's over. FIRE WIN! Perez is MOTM. I'd have voted for Williams. I hope this game is a turning point for us, especially the rookies. I hope Dave learned from Gansler's mistake that threw us the lifeline when we were sinking.
YES!!!! That second half was truly beautiful. Its the kind of soccer the Fire is capable of playing. As has been said, it looked like an entirely different team. Bocanegra was a lifesaver on many occasions. The Ultras/Barnburners in the stands were also representing pretty proper. FLARES! oh man... AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
i dont mean to thread crap on my first post here, but i didnt think we played much better in the second half, at least on the offensive end. meola just got caught flat footed or was screened, i couldn't believe how long it took him to react to the last goal. we didnt beat KC, we beat meola (who looked really funny playing forward) beasley-- he must have had the ball 'roughed' away from him half a dozen times, he did have a few nice runs past some KC players but his finishing was terrible. ralph-- he should be starting, he had great touches on the ball. i thought our passing was still really ugly, we desperately need razov out there.
Amazing come from behind win tonight, tale of two halves tonight. Whitfield opens it up with a rocket, and Ralph finishes the match with a beutiful goal. WHOS THE BEST??? P.S. Where'd they find a shirt to fit Fat Tony?
I have never been so happy to be so wrong about a game. But there was nothing in the first half to suggest what was to come. The Fire didn't even get a shot on goal in the first half. I know Gansler likes to bunker on a lead and I was hoping it would come back to bite him. I was thinking a draw at that point but Dave went for the jugular by putting in Ralph. KC can also claim bad luck (or bad substitution strategy) with Wolff's injury.
Great, great comeback. I haven't seen that from the fire for quite a while.Three great shots by Damni, Williams and especially Perez. Also when we had the lead we didn't blow it late in the game way to go guys. I said I would be very happy if the fire scored more than one goal, well I'm estatic over three and a great victory.
I have it if you want it. Let me know your address by pm.I'm so happy over the win I won't even charge anything for the tape or to have it mailed.
I didn't see exactly how many of our fans were there, but it looked like there were only about 20 or so. However many, they were vastly outnumbered by KC fans and they were stuck in one small corner... yet when I watched the FoxSports telecast the only cheers I could hear in the background were Fire cheers. Pirate Flags and the state of IL flag were very visible during the game. The flares were amazing... the announcer said [paraphrased]: "and in anticipation of the victory, heeeeerrre come the flares!" a real direct quote from the game: Announcer 1: It's too bad, these fire ultra fans came all the way to see this game and the only two goals scored by the Fire were 110 yards away. Announcer 2: Well, it may be too bad, but those Fire fans seem pretty happy regardless [cut to shot of fans (including our friend the unibomber) going absolutely nuts in the middle of an otherwise empy half of the stadium] Three cheers for the fans that made it to KC! Good show of support and great use of the flares. You guys were on tv a lot and you looked good. Don't stop living in the Red! ps - Carl, nice sunglasses.
