Submit Designs For The Section 8 Standard

With the completion of the La Maquina Roja banner, the next project is making a 'lead flag' like the others in section 8, but carrying more of a design and image representative of all of section 8.

Think of it as if section 8 were a country unto itself, what would the design for its flag be?

These are moe elaborate than the idea should be but may give you a general idea.

Anyhow, the design should be either square or 2:3 in ratio (actual height of flag will be determined later, but it will be big) and since I am having it professionally made, it shouldn't take long to get done once the design is chosen.

Use club colors mostly. Mostly red, then white and navy.

Simpler the better, but it should be distinct from the geometric ones we courrently use.

Post the submissions here and/or send them to jmurtau@luc.edu in a .gif format (or if you have adobe Illustrator, even better).

When you say four panelled....do you mean 4 vertical panels, 4 horizontal panels, or two squares on top and bottom?

I assume he means the 4 sewn together to make one big flag. That shoudn't be too hard.

krolpolski sent in the first design, which I'll put up later.

Not bad, but I'd probably change the bars to white, use white or navy fire script 'C's instead of the full badge, and add in a slogan somewhere or just "SECTION 8 CHICAGO" written out.

Good first submisison, plays off the design of the Chicago flag. Nice.

Hopefully I'll be up there within a couple years (after I graduate) and I'll be helping out plenty. If I think of anything for the design I'll let yall know.

PS. Let me take this opportunity to do some SPAM for me own picture topic in the Holland board :D

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24470

Feel free to take a look. I'm getting the idea no-one ever looks at them, and eventually that's why they're here :D

(forget about the orange pictures though, they're lame)

If any of you could help me to some more section 8 pics... thanx in advance.

    Yes and no :D

That picture looks good. But these things have to grow. If you don't use flares (and I believe smoke bombs are a thing of the past for you now) you have to try doing choreography and stuff to impress (or start smuggling stuff in) Not just waving flags about, but positioning them in certain ways and such.

Don't get me wrong, nothing against Chicago (like I said, it looks good), but it can always be done better. Organization, money and time.

We have a new section since three years... they've really been at it in that time (especially considering that they're mostly 15-18 in age!). The secret to having some quality TIFO is creativity and organization. I think it'd be cool to see this stuff in the US as well. Afterall, it's part of football culture.

These guys think BIG. And that's what it takes to create those incredible sights. Although they also still have to grow.
Anyway, good luck with it! Hope to see some nice pictures soon!

I'm sure we could still create some nice tifo this year if we spent some time and planned it out.

Such bitter reaction even after stressing it twice!

You should take pride in what you do.

You know, we just love advice from Europeans. We can't get enough advice on how we should operate here. How about you give us MORE suggestions on how we can improve our level of support by growing our supporters group?

Maybe you can also give us helpful gardening advice, like making sure our plants don't get too much water by not watering them so much?

Or perhaps, it would be more helpful if you told us how to live more peacefully by not going to war?

No, none of those will help, you'd best just go back on over to the Holland boards.

Frankly, supporting our team is our business, and we don't need people from outside advising us on it. If we see something we like, we'll incorporate it, but we don't need the running commentary. It's mainly just perceived as meddling and it's unwarranted.

    Hah.

jeremy's right, but we're not trying to run you off.

At least I'm not. Suggestions are cool occassionally, but can quickly becaome annoying if repeated enough to be percieved as instruction from afar. that's all.

I mean, we're not telling you guys how to do your thing, are we? :D

We've got plenty of on-site specialists working on our end. No worries.

I like the french, it's the damned Dutch that get me fired up :)

J/K, one of my roomates in college was of Dutch descent.

I can't help it, it's my German ancestry.

  23. I lived in Amsterdam for 6 months. I could never really get upset at the Dutch. I mostly found them amusing :- )

Except for the time I was served chili with peaches in it... I mean, what the heck, that's just downright offensive to me!

All in all, it was just a reaction to someone saying 'looks good for anyone' after I said it looks good for MLS. That was meant as a compliment.

I'm not trying to tell you anything, just giving an opinion. Why? Because I like the whole thing and I like to see how things go in the US. I think it's fun. So maybe I get a little carried away. Oh my, who the hell do I think I am?

No need to get all blah blah blah, cause frankly... you haven't seen sh!t in this game my friend.

    *************** you.

The rest of you... no offense.
