The above song "Lippen Schweigen" ("Quiet Lips") is from Franz Lehar's "Die Lustige Witwe" ("Merry Widow", 1905). It was Hitler's favorite operetta and so he was willing to overlook the fact that its libretto writers were Jewish (Leo Rosenstein and Victor Leon). Lehar's wife was Jewish as well but Hitler gave him an "Honorary Aryan" status and the highest award that could be given to a foreigner (Lehar was Austro-Hungarian) the German Cross in Gold. Hitler extended the same courtesy to Emmerich Kalman but Kalman decided to leave Vienna after the Anschluss and soon came to Hollywood, then moved to New York. This is from the recent Russian "Voice" - Mr. X aria from Kalman's "Die Zirkusprincessin" (The Circus Princess, 1926).
Rachael Flowers playing 'the Endless Enigma' at the Emerson tribute concert. For the impatient watch minutes 5-8.
I am listening to " Hauptman farts in elevator" It sounds like .. If P funk , Motörhead and thin lizzy crashed sex pistol" s pool party with Cher as a hostess .
I have never seen the Cherry Lips video. Thanks. Garbage are criminally underappreciated. I would marry Shirley Manson in a heartbeat. My girlfriend might not approve, but probably would be okay with it.
Her vocals are overproduced (here) but I like the song. It sounds like vintage Garbage with a smidge of influence from the Smashing Pumpkins.
Can I just add in that Garbage wouldn't be half as good as they are if it wasn't for Butch Vig. The man knows what he's doing in a studio and is surprisingly good behind a set.
