No one knew except the Colonel himself. He had announced it two months before.

Phoebe Bridgers making upbeat music? Seems like a recession indicator.

A band whose name has been on my radar for decades but who I have never listened to.

Tonight is Night 1 of Wschód Kultury –Inne Brzmienia 2026, the East of Culture-Different Sounds Festival on the grounds of Lublin Castle.

We are seeing Drank, a guitar/trumpet and electronics duo from Austria, Leila Bordreuil and Drew McDowall (who was in PsychicTV and Coil) and Dead Bob (a project from the drummer of Nomeansno).

Tomorrow is highlighted by Therapy? (didn't even know they were still around).

Celebrating the 250th birthday of the US of A with Sun Ra Arkestra as the main band. It is now led by 102 year old Marshall Allen.

We're told that after the war
The Nazis vanished without a trace
    But battalions of fascists
Still dream of a master race

    The history books they tell
    Of their defeat in '45
But they all came out of the woodwork
On the day the Nazi died

They say the prisoner at Spandau
    Was a symbol of defeat
    Whilst Hess remained imprisoned
And the fascists; they were beat

So the promise of an Aryan world
    Would never materialize
So why did they all come out of the woodwork
On the day the Nazi died

The world is riddled with maggots
    The maggots are getting fat
They're making a tasty meal of all
    The bosses and bureaucrats

    They're taking over the boardrooms
And they're fat and full of pride
And they all came out of the woodwork
On the day the Nazi died

So if you meet with these historians
I'll tell you what to say
    Tell them that the Nazis
    Never really went away

They're out there burning houses down
    And peddling racist lies
    And we'll never rest again...
    Until every Nazi dies...

Cool to see a band that is viewed by many as inspiration and a ‘node on the tree of rock’ to throw a cover in with their jamming…sooo many egos would not be able to spotlight another band’s artistry AND take it to another level:eek:

Whelp, at least the DNC’s show is still on tonight at Fitzgerald’s! Taking my boy!

Song 1 on album 1, set the tone for their 40yr career.

new shiz…still writing, recording and touring!

It’s somewhat common for Kevn to bring the crowd up and break it back down 2 or 3 times…and he takes that opportunity to throw in some of his solo ‘folk like’ Americana. Solid writing and emoting vocals.

disclaimer: Kevn’s voice isn’t what it used to be, and I think they are playing tonight as a 3pc (typically have a hired gun guitarist as well…impressive list of respected players). Saying this because unless you already like them or can enjoy a Scarred but Smarter punk, folk, alternative, garage band ‘warts and all’ well…you know.

Well I'm out of work, I'm out of hope

Of what should be of me I spoke

And good times for the undeserved

And bad times for the ones who work

They said poor man, rich man, blind man, dead man

Hoped for more than they had all planned

Just then they suffered a serious blow

As the real world cut the line they tow

They said nobody said it would be fair

They warned you before you went out there

There's always a chance to get restarted

To a new world, new life, start but smarter

It's your right to wish the poor man rich

And your right to wish the rich man poor

The hope of all that's fair is well and fair

At least I never felt the despair

I feel so bad that I start crying

No pay out for all my trying

To do it right, to never fail

I wish it for a sorry tale

They said nobody said it would be fair

They warned me before I went out there

There's always a chance to get restarted

To a new world, new life, start but smarter

Well in my life it turns all around

Dropping things to do that I found

I think I've fooled myself at first

To think I could be done for good

They said nobody said it would be fair

But in the end I think it is

Karma, justice, whatever you call it

It's really there, just keep looking for it

Nobody said it would be fair

But in the end I think it is

Karma, justice, whatever you call it

It's really there, just keep looking for it

Nobody said it would be fair

But in the end I think it is

Karma, justice, whatever you call it

It's really there, just keep looking for it

Nobody said it would be fair

They warned me before I went out there

There's always a chance to get restarted

To a new world, new life, start but smarter!

whelp, the Fitzgerald’s sound guy *sucked*….the band was giving him feedback for 3/4 of the show, the first 12 songs were muddy AF, then mics were hot, and for some reason the board guy could not understand the difference between monitor and PA:thumbsdown: Knob twister

That said, they did have a 4th player…but for the first time in 40yrs the 4th player was not better than the rest of the band. No shade intended, it’s just historically they have a gunslinger with them. Tonight the song writer/ singer played 3/4 of the leads and solos…which is fine, but left my 20yr old going ‘meh’.

In the end, their soul(s) were intact…their integrity and showmanship was same as it ever was.

Do you know another band that can pull of pop punk songs about dementia and Alzheimer’s? PTSD? Kevn Kinney covers wide range of human plight…his song writing is more know by other song writers than the populous:coffee: Straight to Hell!
