I wish I had my weed money back. They're in Fort Wayne tommorow. That's not that far of a drive right?
Tragic 80's Yemenite Jewish folk pop singer, Eurovision star, Ofra Haza. Spectacular voice. Her stuff really suffers from overproduced 80's synth-pop overkill but that voice...She did traditional music too. The lady married a scumbag who gave her Aids then overdosed on cocaine.
So two new artists I bought vinyl for recently remind me of the Muscle Shoals/Southern sound that might be worth checking out if Skynyrd is in your mojo inducing sound track. First is The Steel Woods. I posted this live video from what looks to be their rehearsal space but their album is excellent. I mean it nails the Skynyrd/Stapleton vibe but with originals. The other is this baby faced kid Marcus King. He plays and has a light kinda high/soulful voice that's definitely vaguely southern and his guitar playing definitely quotes Curtis Mayfield/Pops Staples.
In what respect? I've been thinking there's just the right amount. Just as in the proper amount of Kenny G.
More of a whiskey guy, and I got caught in the rain earlier today. Moving furniture. Without whiskey. It wasn't my idea of fun.
