As I posted in the Kitten Killer II thread, FSC is broadcasting live from the draft tonight. Probably interesting, if you're REALLY into this kinda of thing.
Joe, I PM'd you - send me the file and I'll see what magic I can work. Give my regards to the missus.
That's a LOT of new names. Almost twice as many as were at the combine. I don't remember - is it normal for the league to list that many draft eligible players after the combine?
Things I learned from watching it: 1. David Beckham is coming to MLS. 2. The USL president thinks that it is possible for there to be two premier men's leagues in the U.S. 3. Sunil Gulati is an Oompa Loompa. 4. Sunil Gulati is a very defensive when it comes to Juergan Klinnsman. 5. David Beckham is coming to MLS. 6. That guy from Survivor still exists. 7. Steve Morrow and FCD are going after yet another defensive midfielder, but this one is Dutch. 8. Dominic Kinnear covets Javier Saviola. 9. FSC doesn't give a crap about the SuperDraft tomorrow. 10. David Beckham is coming to MLS.
There are probably 10 or so more names than last year's SuperDraft list - in part to have a few Canadians for Toronto to draft. Since Dyachenko was an a non-Combine player added to the SuperDraft list last year, I am sure that Kasper added a few sleepers to this year's list. The bigger names added to this year's list were foreigners (i.e. Byrne - UCSB, Boyens - New Mexico) who missed the Combine.
Goff :: In Draft, United Often Scores Late Goalkeeper Jay Nolly, whose rights were acquired from Real Salt Lake in the Adu trade last month, is training with another European club after a tryout in Scotland. United officials have been in contact with his agent, but, as a precaution, they might draft a goalie today.
Attached is JoeSoccerFan's DRAFT PACKAGE™ ! It includes: Draft Summary Rankings by Position with explanation Overall Rankings regardless of position Nice work Joe.
ok, for the ADHD amongst us - Here's my wish list. I had no shot with Santa anyway, so... One of these 4 options: If we can get 1 of the top 4 talents (Seitz, Edu, Findley, Soumare (in no part. order). One of the U17-U20 GA (Arguez, Ibrahim, Igwe, Wallace) - just to save the cap and for someone next year. Since I haven't seen these guys play (except 1 game from Ibrahim) - it's hard to say how good or bad they are. John Cunliffe or Michael Harrington (I think these guys could fall to DCU and would make an impact this year. Jeffrey Gonsalves - I didn't realize that he's only 20yo. 4 years of YI - I'll take him. Marking him up. There's 11 players there and still leaves Needham. Who would I be happiest with (assume top 4 are gone)? John Cunliffe. I think that would be the soonest to fit in the team. With his precise passing would complement Gomez/Moreno very well and he can score. He can play up top (where he played at Ft. Lewis) or LM. 2nd pick, Harrington - his speed makes him special. 3rd pick Gonsalves - steady, smart, big target - only question mark is athletic ability. Just a reminder, I'll try and get wireless set up at the convention center. I'll look for a chat room called DCUDRAFT2007
what kind of deviant do you think that I am? It's 930 - that's not a time to drink Bourbon. Beer, yes. Bourbon, no. The jack is for the draft. I'll probably finish the whole bottle.
Make sure you annunciate when you hand your camera over, I'd hate to have a picture of your posterior.
JSF - I tend to agree that DCU's bigger needs for younger, high draft pick talent are either a Forward or a Defender (or a Mid who can also play F or D). In terms of your wish list: * I would imagine that your Fab Four will be long gone by pick #11 * In terms of the other GA players, they seem to have some versatility which could have some value and if any of them are available, they seem to be the likely pick. - Igwe is a lefty (LB, LM, LW) who could replace some of the lefty depth lost with Adu and Prideaux. - Wallace is somewhat similar in terms of positions (LB, LM, DM). - Arguez apparently plays CM/AM and D but it seems as if he is more touted as a Mid. - Ibrahim plays RM and F but he is only 15 - not sure DCU wants to go that young with this pick. - Colaluca would be an interesting pick. He has trained with the Revs and they apparently want him to somewhat take Dempsey/Cancela's spots. On a draft preview show, the Revs TV a-hole Feldman was whining about DCU having a better record than the Revs and being in the CONCACAF Cup - yet DCU had a better draft pick than the Revs. Just as a F U move to the Revs, I would not mind seeing DCU draft Colaluca. In terms of the seniors: * Harrington seems to make sense as LB/LM cover which is essentially Wilson/deRoux's spots as of now. * Although I would like to see DCU grab a forward with the top pick, DCU tends to shy away from foreign draft picks as of late which may hurt the chances of Cunliffe or Gonsalves (or someone like WVU's Smith in the 2nd), even though they would just be Youth Internationals. Patterson seems to be the best of the American forwards who might be available at DCU's picks (Findley will likely be gone) - his stock seems to have dropped a bit based just on Combine reports and might be able to slip to DCU in the 2nd round. * Hard to get a read on the value to DCU of players like Needham (CB) and Dalby (CB, DM). While we have DM depth (especially if B Carroll re-signs), I am not sure if DCU views CB as a big need as Erpen can move to CB if Boswell is out. Wilson and McTavish both played a bit of CB in last year's reserve games but DCU may be interested in having a more traditional CB for depth.
That would be hilarious. The next podcast would be a must-listen event to hear that ignoramus spinning out of control.
Actually if he is available I don't think it would be a bad idea to go over and talk to Nicol. Ask for a supplemental pick to switch places so we don't take him. Its basically a free supplemental pick. Not to mention its a dick move that screws over the Revs, which I am all for.
not too many DC folks. met a guy named Robert from Indy; Kyle sheldon is babysitting i do have internet and found a plug though I'm sitting there. might have to in 2 hours or so.
