Tutto is a pretty poor source, but it is only a matter of time. It's going to be comforting to know that the Azzurri have the best coach in the world back at the helm. My only hope is that he hasn't been away from the game for too long and that his time away from the game has allowed the hunger to return. If he wins a second World Cup, then he'll truly be one of the greatest of all time... Lets hope that happens!

There's no better news I could have woken up to.

Btw, does anyone know if any other coach has ever won 2 consecutive world cups before? Would Lippi be the first if he were to win in 2010?

When Italy won the World Cup in 1934 and 1938, they won under the same manager Vittorio Pozzo. Hopefully Marcello Lippi can follow in his footsteps, as well as future managers of the Italian National Team.

Easily the coolest person in the world. Man, watching Lippi getting mugged by Gattuso and then celebrating like an ordinary person with the rest of the team was so much fun. He may be Juve through and through, but I love the guy!

Can't wait to see his first squad, but I'm not expecting too much of an immediate youth movement. I think he'll get rid of Panucci, Matrix, and Ambrosini as that article the other day said, and replace them with a couple of the players he took to WC 06'.

EDIT: This does appear to be official as it is now on ESPN's soccer page. I'm stoked to have Lippi back, I really am!

Good for Lippi, congrats to him and I hope he will lead us to another World Cup triumph.

On to revolutionizing this team, new players, new blood, new tactics.

I'm happy but at the same time I hope all that greatness he achieved in 2006 does not get erased with a poor 2010 world cup, it will be near impossible to repeat in 2010....I guess we will all wait and see.

I hope this does not mean totti and nesta returns, not thank you

I agree, it's incredibly foolish (I can't express how foolish, really) to expect to win in 2010 just because Lippi is back. But at least Lippi being back gives us a fighting chance ;)

Whens world cup qualifying start? Think we can go on that huge unbeaten streak like we did before previous world cup?

Lets not ask for too much now lol. I'd be purely satisfied with just QUALIFYING for the World Cup and seeing some noticeable improvement in the way this squad plays.
