Any chance we could get United to dress up in Ghana jerseys for this match?

I think just saying a handful of phrases in German would be enough to make Landycakes curl up into the fetal position at midfield.

With all the emphasis these days on learning new songs, I think we should come out for this game and sing "Deuchland Uber Alles" at Landon.:p

(on second thought, Peter might not appreciate that  )

Re: Official LA Galaxy @ DC United PRE Match Thread

    Things to worry about here:
    • Some people still think that LA is the team from May and June, the team that got 0 wins, 2 draws, and 8 losses in that time. Hopefully our team doesn't think that. Since Donovan and Albright returned from their apathetic European vacation, LA has picked up 5 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss in league play, and 2 wins in USOC play.
    • Before in May and June, LA allowed 17 goals in those 10 matches above; in the 8 league matches since, they've allowed just two goals. Their defense seems definitely to be playing a lot better. And we've certainly had trouble scoring goals of late.
    • Tino certainly has seemed like he got his groove back since he went out there -- goals in his first two matches -- and he'll certainly want to score here.
    • What will Gomito and Adu's injury status be? Not whether they'll play or not -- indications from Nowak have been that they'll be available -- but whether they'll be 100% and sharp.

    Things to feel good about:
    • We finally, finally, got back to a multiple-goal match on Wednesday night.
    • No one has yet beaten us at home.
    • We did get Benny and Jaime a little bit of rest Wednesday night.
    • Meanwhile, during their recent run of success, LA hasn't been shooting lights-out. In those last eight league matches above, they've had three matches with 2 goals, three matches with 1 goal, and two matches with 0.

EDIT: As of 9am Friday morning, ussoccer-data has no info on the refereeing assignments yet.

OK, so to turn serious for a moment here - I have to admit I'm hoping for Tino to have a good game. I know, I know, he's wearing the other shirt, we have to boo him and hate on him, etc....

I just can't do it. Tino's a good kid. I hope he doesn't end up with a head case like Esky against Reiss and get himself so worked up he can't play right. I want him to have a solid performance, and a cathartic experience, so he can get his DC United/RFK stadium monkey off his back and go on to have a great career.

I have no problem booing Tino.

Did anybody get a chance to pick up that German flag to wave in Landy's face?

Unless they do something vile, I don't boo the former players. If Tino does something Lisi-like and kiss the shield on his jersey, then it's open season.

I agree with this. I don't necessarily want to see him do well this weekend, but I would hate it if he were the reason we won. And I do hope he has a great career in LA.

After tossing a salad, it's very good hygene to wash your mouth out like that. It's important Landon sends good health advice to all the kiddies who used to look up to him :)

Those ********ers play way too well in RFK, even when their season is going horribly (like this year).
Can we just be really nice to Cobi when he's on the field? He likes us ragging on him too much, it inspires him to play good soccer. I hate that. I also can't seem to control spewing hate at him. It's a vicious Catch-22.

I believe if we can keep our width, we can win this game easily. If we pinch in too much and try to play up the middle, it's gonna be a long night.

LA is DC's biggest rival. You guys can say all you want about those turds from NY. The fact is that we haven't beat LA at home in 2 years. They're the only team that is anywhere near us in the trophy dept. We must crush them.

On Saturday, we must verbally abuse Landon like he's never been verbally abused before. This is all I ask.

and may we not play "cute" this weekend.

I don't think the La Las will have the same success as past years. Our defense is just too solid.

With the Galaxies' success at RFK, perhaps we should try a different approach. We should cheer for Landon and Cobi when they're introduced. We'll make them feel at home and let our players rip them to pieces. I think thier guys get off by coming to RFK and spoiling our party. Ok, dumb idea.

Me as well. I could live with losing the rest of the season (well maybe not..) if we can beat the ******** out of LA in our own house. Outside of MLS Cup games, we just don't have a stellar record against them

I know it's supposed to be the Mutts, but I have a special brand of hate just for LA.

Not boo? Are you guys kidding me?!! Anyone in the enemy jersey gets booed ............ period! I might not boo with as much conviction as I would say, Carlos Ruiz, but I'm not hoping that a former guy comes here and does well in our house. You guys are as soft as toilet tissue.

This is an important game for United, althought it may not seem so.

    1) With Dallas now out of the US Open Cup, they have nothing to focus on in the immediate future but the Supporters Shield (they can worry about MLS Cup once the playoffs start). If we drop points and they win their game, they are again 5 points behind with a game at hand, while DC has to also divide their energy between the Shield and the Open Cup.

    2) LA has never missed the playoffs. If I were a player on this United squad, I would love to be able to say that I was on the team that put the NAIL IN THE COFFIN of this Galaxy team!!!! Hell, it would be a pleasure beyond words. I happen to agree with Greenbill. There is no real rivalry with the team in NJ. They suck and have always sucked. Our massive battles have been with LA and Chicago. We MUST DESTROY LA.
