Does anyone know who is covering this game in India?

I think we should win , by a goal or two against HK. From a report I read in the TOI, a few days ago, there is a player of Indian origin in HK, who was turned down by India, but has gone to become a regular performer in HK league football.

The indian team has been promised that if theY win against japan on the 22nd, each of the players will be getting a sum of about 2,300 USD and if they draw against japan they will get about 1200 USD. I HOPE THIS WILL MOTIVATE THE INDIAN TEAM:D .

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO INDIA, HINDUSTAN,BHARAT.

I missed the match due to some work commitements. Did anyone see the game. It seems we fought our way down from a 2 goal deficit. Not bad, that too more crediatble since it was away. Hopefully this should motivate the team and instill a fighter instinct in them.

Why is India's Jersey colours blue? This isnt the first time I saw them wear blue, so Im guessing its their 1st choice kit. Is there a history behind it like the Azzuri of Italy and al-Azraq for Kuwait? Seeing that theres no blue in India's flag (as is the case with Japan...hmm, alot of countries prefer blue eh?)

Indian people are diverse man Bhutia is from Sikkim in India which is border with Tibet that is why he looks like tibetan :) In the team picture you will see no. 4 who is Kashmiri and fair and you see no.2 who is from Kerala and is darker it is strange but I guess many different tribes over centuries settled in India so they are very mixed.

The story abt the Blue jersey to be honest friend I dont know but I think it is because in the Indian flag Saffron represents Hindu/Sikh/Buddhist, Green represents Muslim and white represents Minorities so wearing blue is like a peace colour. I cant confirm it maybe someone else knows?

Actually does anyone know why some Saudi and Oman players look very dark and their teammates are fair arab looking? Is it the same story like India or are they foreign born

Thx for the info. It might be different in the Gulf countries. In the UAE and Oman black players are originally from Zanzibar. There are a lot of them living in the UAE and Oman. In other Gulf countries I hear that they used to trade with Africa long ago and there became inter-marriges. But the Qatari national team however has 2-3 foreign born players and the rest of the black players are the same story with the rest of the Gulf.

First of all welcome, good to have another Indian fan around.

"Bhagwa or the saffron colour denotes renunciation of disinterestedness. Our leaders must be indifferent to material gains and dedicate themselves to their work. The white in the centre is light, the path of truth to guide our conduct. The green shows our relation to soil, our relation to the plant life here on which all other life depends. The Ashoka Wheel in the centre of the white is the wheel of the law of dharma. Truth or satya, dharma or virtue ought to be the controlling principles of those who work under this flag. Again, the wheel denotes motion. There is death in stagnation. There is life in movement. India should no more resist change, it must move and go forward. The wheel represents the dynamism of a peaceful change"

Indian flag has a blue colour chakra.

EDITED BY SPHERICAL TO CORRECT SPELLING ON NAMES

Here's an interview (the day before the match) of India team coach, Syed
Nayeemuddin in Japanese, posted on Sportsnavi of Yahoo! Japan:

    http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/soccer/japan/kaiken/200602/at00008032.html

For those unable to read Japanese, here's a quick and dirty translation:

Coach: Tomorrow's game is a very important one. Japan is a very good
team, but we are prepared to fight. We will play well, and hopefully win.

Media: Please tell us your system and players for tomorrow.

Coach: They are secret. Please see the system for yourself tomorrow.

Japan is a very good team, but all we can say for now is to concentrate,
concentrate, concentrate, fight, fight, fight, and hopefully win.

I am proud that we can play in such a fabulous stadium. This is the
stadium where the star players played (in World Cup), and even just
practicing makes me so happy. I believe there is no superior stadium than
this. I say it is equal to Maracanan stadium in Brazil. Tomorrow I expect
many Japanese supporters to come, and I would like for them to cheer for
India team as well. I want to return India with the cheers from supporters
    as a souvenir.

Media: Which player out of Japan team do you feel is the most dangerous?

Coach: It's not just some players, it's the whole Japan team. We will have to
be on guard from start to finish.

Media: India won the South Asia Championship. Are the players who played
back then the basis of your team?

Coach: We have eight players from back then. They include the GK, Manju
from DF, and Ajayan (from MF).

Media: What are the basis of your player selection?

Coach: Recently, India has a national league similar to J-League. It is from
this league that I watch and select my players. I am hoping that this league
will grow and expand like J-League did.

Off the topic, we are hosted in a nice hotel with delicious food and kind
support right now. I wish I could stay here parmanently :D
*Yes, this is what is actually written in the interview article!!

Media: India lost to Japan both home and away during 2004's World Cup
Qualifying Round. What are the differences in your team between back then
    and now?

Coach: People learn from mistakes. We lost both home and away, but there
were so many easy mistakes that it was unbelievable. We learned a lot from
those defeats. We will no longer make those easy mistakes. Japan had
better keep its concentration throughout the match.

Media: Is the player called Baichung Bhutia considered a super star in India?

Coach: No, he is a super-performer but not a star. He is indeed popular in
India, but it's not just about Bhutia; all of the players are important. He is,
however, a player who can do many things. Watch in tomorrow's game.

Let's see what India and this coach is capable of. :)

If anybody is interested, I will do a quick and dirty translation on interview
    of Zico as well.

I think that's it. The article was in Japanese, and foreign names are
expressed in katakana (a form of Japanese letter) so I was unsure of the
    spelling at all.
I will check the India players' names in English and edit my post when I get
    the chance.

    Thanx for the translation............
I hope coach Syed Nayeemuddin is not a blabber mouth (we'll find out tomorrow dont we). He should have done some statistics course so he could have give the probability of india winning against japan.

Being OPTIMIST the best india could do is get a draw.

    Pessimistically (if there's such a word), Japan 3 - India 0.

And if india wins tomorrow, PARTY, INDIA; INDIA, PARTY; LETS PARTY IN INDIA:cool:

Being Japanese and Japan team fan, I predict 3-0 for Japan and HOPE for
10-0 with no offense intended to India team. :)

I wonder if it's feasible to use this thread for minute-by-minute update on the match, or if it is more advisable to make another thread?

Oh by all means use this thread if you want. But i opened up a thread in the japanese forum days ago and it seems that the moderator has put an [R] over there. So u know what everyone should go there in the japanese forum to see the minute by minute game of the two champions.

SO YEAH PEOPLE THAT'S RIGHT TOMORROW IS THE GAME OF
    CHAMPIONS VS CHAMPIONS.

ASIAN CHAMPIONS (JAPAN) VS SOUTH ASIAN CHAMPiONS (INDIA)

So who is doing the minute by minute in the japanese forum.

OK. I will go to Japanese forum and hope to see someone do a
    minute-to-minute update there. ;)
If nobody seems like doing it, I might do it myself. :p I hope I'm available to
watch the game on that time (not sure).
