It's Official now.. the government are going to build the biggist sports city in saudi arabia at Jeddah. and the project includes the largest stadium in the middle east with a 100,000+ Capacity! The project will start this year according to the news: http://forum.kooora.com/f.aspx?t=14173588 and then officially at (واس) [Saudi Press Agency] : http://www.spa.gov.sa/cdetails.php?id=625604&catid=7 congrats
So finally the King Abdullah Stadium is going to be built? Though really, that's kinda overkill and a waste of money. a 50'000-60'000 stadium would be sufficient.
any image of it....ur write 50000 to 60000 will be enough as there rarely plays any international matches
I think they should also build a stadium in Dammam or Qassim and also a new Stadium in Riyadh as well.
you're right about it.. the rumors says that Al Hilal & Mobily are looking forward to build a new stadium (about 60,000) in Riyadh. I wish it comes true!
100,000?! Talk about overkill. Some people must be set to make a lot of $$$ off of this white elephant.
Am i the only one that thinks building a stadium with a capacity of 100k in a 30M population is ridiculous ?
Ridiculous is an overstatement in my opinion. I hope the 100k number is just exaggeration by the press.
Nothing is uglier than a behemoth stadium with a capacity of 100,000 getting no more than 20,000 attendance on a good day. (Just look at Cairo stadium when Ahli/Zamalek are not playing...yuck, they bring in the army to fill the seats). No amount of architectural design will compensate for the nakedness created by so many empty seats. Instead of 1 huge 100,000 stadium they could have built 2 50,000 ones, soccer specific if we may be asking for too much.
its right ...saudi stadiums are hardly filled in regular matches....but derby means house packed...the need to built around maximum 70000 capacity....the photo is of international match,,,,,
Unless a huge international match is on or the sort of Sami Al-Jaber/Majed Abdullah testimonial match comes up. I don't see the stadium being packed more than 10 or so times in the next century.
Your nervous worry should not overwhelm you... trust when we say that whatever size the Jeddah stadium will be, it will be 1000000000000x better quality, class and design than that crumbling, earthquake prone irani structure.
Dont say that man. Anyways, I hope the stadium turns into a success. I Hope you did not mean any bad intention with your post. btw, arash I think azadi is great.
Don't worry man, I wasn't saying anything bad about you. I just think it's funny how you guys like to insert Iran into every discussion. Laith, cool it 7abibi.
