I'm not sure that it is necessarily a big deal to sell to a foreign investor...but the one Yams have found themselves with is an unmitigated disaster.
chances of that happening are very slight for now. dermot desmond is the majority shareholder and unlike a lot of foreign investors he is a genuine fan.
There are rumours going around that Gordon is unhappy at Sunderland. Matters weren't helped when Keane-O benched him for back-up Darren Ward a few weeks ago. While I doubt he'll make the return trip, it'd be great if he did.
i think it's just a bit of a footballing culture shock for the lad. he isn't used to losing goal after goal. i haven't seen many, if any in fact, that i could blame him for. the 2-0 win against portsmouth is his first clean sheet since the opening game of the season against spurs. i think he has the ability and the desire to succeed in the EPL and i hope he does.
I didn't get to see today's derby with hibs at Tynie. I know the result, but I'd like to see the match! Any suggestions? Are there torrents for SPL matches?
Vlad the Mad Bastard is at it again! Where's a frackin Russian mafia hit when you need one? He just sold Velicka, our top scorer, for a measly million pounds. And no viable striking options to step in. "The move is sure to infuriate Hearts fans..." Too right it's gonna infuriate us. How long does he think he can keep getting away with this crap?
here's a link to the news. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/h/heart_of_midlothian/7259799.stm asset stripping at it's finest. what's worse is, the hearts fans brought it on themselves by giving him control of the club without ever knowing what his true intentions really were.
it sounds harsh mate but you know it's true. the hearts fans put him in power and now unfortunately they're reaping what they sow. the loans are in his banks name i think. so the club pays his bank the interest. the last thing i want to see is a famous club like hearts going to the wall but he holds all the aces now. the only way to get him out is to totally boycott the matches but then who's going to come in and take over the mess that he's made. it's a bleak, bleak time for hearts and i can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. sorry.
I hear ye, but I don't know that we had much choice at the time, and how can you ever really know somebody's intentions in advance? I mean, he's not going to give the game away until it's too late. Dark times. I almost hope it gets worse so that somebody, anybody, is forced to do something.
even worse is, if the deal goes through, hearts won't see a penny of the £1mill as he's still a kaunas player on loan at hearts.
This whole debacle has just been bizarre. I'm not sure whether the Jambos amaze me or disgust me with the fact that they still have decent attendance.
Well, that's why I can't understand clubs & fans who put their faith in the hands of foreign tycoons (I'm not happy about what happened to Liverpool, i.e.).
Hi guys. My name's Alvaro and I've had a pretty intersting history with Hearts since I was a kid. The 2nd time I came to Canada (1995-96, I was about 11), I became friends with a Scottish kid who's family happened to be a huge fan of Heart of Midlothian. Since I was already a lifelong (although short) football fanatic (from familiy ties, culture, etc)....it wasn't hard for me to get into the team. To say the least, the first thing that mesmerized me was the maroon jerseys/posters/ flags/ crest....I just loved the "look" of Hearts. (+ Tynecastle). PRetty soon, I was hooked everytime I came over (following results, even going to bars at 7:30 AM to catch the games vs. Celtic or Rangers) By the time 1998 came, I experienced the Scottish cup win which was really something spectacular. Since then, I've been following Hearts through the internet (listening to games, catching replays, going over houses that have the North American setanta at 8-9am (for those rare days where they show Hearts games live). When I meet Scots here, they seem baffled to find a Canadian who's such a fan Anyways, I'm glad I found this forum and look forward to chatting up with fellow Jambos.
yeah. welcome aboard. just checked your first post and there are no spelling or grammatical errors. you have to be very vigilant of this as the forum mod is a hibee and he preys on hearts fans, picking on them for the slightest thing. he's given out yellow cards to hearts fans for incorrect use of punctuation before...
Welcome! We can always use another Jambo here. I think you bring our number to about four on these boards. We outnumber the hobos, so that's good at least. It's about all we're going to win this year, I'm afraid...
Awesome, thanks guys. Just followed the game right now. Great win vs. Inverness. Funny, I remember thinking this week: "Elliot is our last hope" as a joke. By the way, what websites do you guys use to watch hearts games? I'm wondering if you have anything better than livefooty? It's hard to find links to listen to the games since they are usually reserved for UK listeners.
