Miro Klose has an inflamed knee and will require surgery.
Because of that he will miss the Confederations Cup and two test matches.

    Brdaric will replace him.

That's a damn shame. I would have liked to see the best German squad play.

What's with Klinsmann never inviting Sebastian Kehl?
I think he played a superb second half of the season and deserves a call-up!

Hmm I guess Klinsmann has a grudge against Kehl.
But on the on hand I am happy he han't invited Kelly, cause he needs the time to rest ... especially with UI cup

on the other hand its a shame

Kehl couldn't play even if he was called up.

He just had ankle surgery. It was on the list.

    Dortmund Praise Kehl

By Thomas Zeh for Sky Sports.com - 27 May 2005

Borussia Dortmund director of sport Michael Zorc hailed midfielder Sebastian Kehl for delaying his ankle surgery until the off-season.

Problems have plagued the former German international for months and although things have got worse in the past few weeks, the former Freiburg star refused to undergo an operation while the season was in progress as he was keen to help his side seal a place in Europe.

"We were impressed by his decision and will hold it in high regard," stressed Zorc, whose team finally missed out on qualifying for the Uefa Cup, but will have a chance to sneak into the competition through the back door of a successful Intertoto Cup campaign.

Kehl is now set to undergo surgery this week and will be hopeful that he will be fully recovered when Dortmund enter the competition in mid-July.

Kehl just had ankle surgery. Kehl's focus is being ready for Dortmund when we begin Intertoto Competition.

whats the lineup for NI on saturday?

since, theres another, tougher friendly against russia coming up before the confed cup, id go with

    ______________timo

    hinkel______huth____per_____schulz

    deisler____frings_____tim____schweini

    ___________________poldi
    ________kuranyi

first choice forwards to get them confidence, bring on owomoyela for hinkel, arne for huth, hitz for schulz, schneider for basti, ballack for frings, ernst and engelhardt for tim and schweini and hanke and brdaric for the forwards at various stages of the game...

(i know klinsmann isnt sven, but this is NI, ffs - a chance to experiment and give everybody some meaningful playing time before the tournament...

against russia, go with full strength

    __________________kahn

    owomoyela____huth______per________hitz

    deisler_______frings_____ballack___schweini

Its a damn shame we lose Klose, he really puts it out there for the NT, unlike his replacement... :rolleye: I hope he doesn't get any playing time.

It is a shame that we don't have a better option than Brdaric as a replacement...

Number one, I'm glad this tournament doesn't mean much. Let's hope Klose doesn't get hurt before next year's tournament.

Number two, I wish Klinsi would have called up one of the younger strikers.

Number three, Thomas Brdaric is the ONLY PLAYER who ever made me want to see Oliver Kahn's side of a story! LOL!! :D

If you guys saw my description of my opinion of Landon Donovan for running out on Leverkusen yet again, double that disgust and you have my feeling about Thomas Brdaric when Kahn grabbed the back of his neck in that match a few years ago.

    What a wuss!

I wonder if Klinsmann should experiment with a traditional 3-5-2 again instead of 4-4-2 as long as Lahm is injured. I think having to force Hitzlsperger to play LB or worse, having someone like Christian Schulz as our standard LB, is not the best option. Why play with four defenders when the opposition hardly ever has more than two strikers? Fielding someone like Schulz literally means wasting one man.

    Why not try a 3-5-2?

    ---------------Podolski-------------Kuranyi

    -Schweinsteiger------Ballack----Deisler------Schneider

    ---------------------------Frings

    -------------Huth-------Mertesacker------Friedrich

    ----------------------------Kahn

It just hurts seeing a rather untalented player like Schulz take away a place when there's so much talent in the midfield.

That would be radical a 3-5-2...worth trying out against NI IMO.

As for Brdaric, bah, I would rather have Hanke in there.

Is Klinsi dead-set on using a destroyer in his midfield or is he capable of fielding a couple of 2-way players there?

From what I saw against Argentina, I liked Ernst a lot and thought he could play the right side - with Hitz on the left - in a 3-5-2 as well. This should give some good ball control and distribution going forward.

Going on offense, I thought Schweinsteiger's best spot is on the far right in a 4-3-3 or 4-"Diamond 4"-2 but I also like Asamoah there and think that Schweini suffers a bit on the left.

Finally, no love for Wörns? Warum? He still looks as the best man-marker out there.

    --Owo----Wörns----Per---

    ----Ernst------Hitz------

    -Asamoah---Ballack---Schweini

    --- Kuranyi---- Podolski---

BTW, the Confed Cup is being Televised here in the US by the Spanish cable networks, though I am not sure if the bulk of the games are going to be live or on tape delay. I am sure the Mexican team games will be shown twice.

Actually you're right. I checked kicker and Klinsi used 4 subs in our last game against Slovenia.
    You were right. :)

I don't know that there is.

Kahn should have been sent off for grabbing Brdaric the way he did, but of course, Kahn being who he is and playing for who he plays for, nothing happened to him. It was definitely violent conduct.

However, after the match, Brdaric whined like a little b!tch to reporters that he was "in fear for his life" when Kahn grabbed him.

I don't know why everyone else hates Brdaric, but that's why I do.......

So you're trying to say that Bayern players don't get sent-off because they play for Bayern? How does that comply with the fact that numerous Bayern players have been sent-off in recent years? (including Kahn, btw)

Hanke is already in the team for the Confederations Cup, and is moving to Wolfsburg...

That's not what I'm trying to say. That's what you said. What I said pertained to that incident and that incident only.

I've seen a special about him on DSF...you know, some kind of homestory.
All i remeber is that he turned to the camera and says with his high feeble voice: "Now i'm gonna play the piano for you." He is really weird.
