I think you are underestimating Wood's situation. He was on the outs with his club and no clue where his career was heading. Maybe he turns it around, but who knows. I can't imaging a faster ascension to his career. Add GATT, Boyd, and Gyau to the list. Brooks wasn't ready to start at the Gold Cup and then is a beast 12 months later. If he hadn't gotten those minutes at the World Cup, nobody was paying $4m for him. He'd have had to wait for his contract to run out. It has nothing to do with anybody's opinion other than Tuchel. It would be that he was getting minutes there and succeeding. It would be him getting minutes there and growing in different way than he could at his club. It's about integrating your top youth players. Onyewu didn't get capped until he was almost 22 and half. More than a year after beginning to play regularly. Onyewu, Dempsey and Johnson had less than 60 caps among them. Many international coaches disagree with and bring young players, some time with no intention of playing them. What did O'Brien contribute? Even if it was as much, people have been complaining about it for the last two and half years. JK leaves one guy off, makes other decisions that will benefit us for a long time, beats Ghana, and gets out of the group and people are excited about a guy that went with an older team, made some of the same mistakes and didn't get out of the group.
I'm nit laughing at you for being pro-Jurgen. I'm laughing at you for being so ridiculously sure of yourself.
2002? Off the top of my head the US dominated Germany with 60% possession and 11 shots on target and were very unlucky to lose. Donovan was named young player of the tournament.
I was just trolling you guys... or at least that is what everyone told me. I was never sure he wasn't going to be fired. I'm not that Suy guy who goes around and prognosticates in every thread. I interpreted that comment to be support of JK... if look through the thread, you'll see acknowledged other people's comments.
253 pages and counting, we made it happen, guys, we never relented, 5 long years, and charlatan's gone, there are miracles, there is Santa Claus after all. Can't wait to see the rumors about Gulati's decision-making, i wanna know what forced him to make that decision.
When my brother texted me at 4 to tell me Klinsy got shitcanned I actually yelled on the job site. My boss was like, "what the ******** was that about?". WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Question for the group: What would be your reaction is the USSF was interested in Guus Hiddink? When I looked at the list of available managers worldwide, his name instantly jumped out to me.
I think he would be a short-term solution to a problem that doesn't really exist. Why not let a younger coach cut their teeth against Trinidad and Honduras?
I got the text from a buddy @ 4pm today. It made my day/week. JK just coached the USMNT to the two worst WCQ results since 1980. That is not progress my friends. I am pleased the Sunil grew a pair. With the $$$ that US Soccer has extracted out of me as the team has blossumed into the mainstream along with MLS and the EPL, I am glad they spend it to send Jurgen to Galatassary or Aston Villa. We all finally realized what the Germans kept saying after 2006....it was Loew that coached Die Mannshaft.
Many people around this forum have suggested Hiddink before, and for a long time. I don't have much knowledge about him myself except that he's Dutch and is very clever tactically. The big question is: can anyone other than an MLS coach (see: Arena mostly) learn the player pool quickly enough to get good (see: not Klinsmann-like) results in the Hex?
Which time? The first time when he won the FA Cup, moved Chelsea into the top 3, won 11 matches out of 13 to end the season, and brought Chelsea to the semi-final of the Champions League? Or the most recent spell when he was more mediocre but moved Chelsea to the top half of the table?
