Frankfurt falls to Leverkusen 4-1 I am happy about this result should give the team confidence heading into next week's game against Bayern btw to anyone who saw the game heres a couple of questions for ya: 1. How did Athirson play? 2.Whos this Vasoski guy that scored the goal, ive never heard of him before is he a new signing?
yes, he`s new. he played in skopje (macedonia) before and was signed for small money. 200000 euro, as far as i remember.
I can't tell you how Athirson's defending was, as I wasn't paying him particular attention, but he was VERY dangerous coming forward, and had quite a bit of opportunity to do so. His pass hit the crossbar and was headed in for the 3-1, and he had a couple of other good offensive moments.
Hmm...Athirson..I wonder if he's in the Brazil shortlist. If he is, probably not good news for my man Gilberto.
Vasoski actually allready came in January and was major important for the promotionrace... If Im not totally mistaken Athirson was the one stadnign about 1 meter below him at the 1-0... couldnt really see it too well tough... To the game: Frankfurt played an awesome first half and totally deserved the early 1-0, as they had 2 or 3 other good chances within the first 20 mins. After that Leverkusen got into the game at least a little bit and scored a lucky goal after an individual mistake by Spycher I think. Leverkusen really couldnt complain about teh 1-1 at halftime. I dont know what exactly happend after the HT, but within 15 minutes Leverkusen took advance of 3 individual mistakes and scored 3 goals for the 4-1, while Frankfurt totally fell apart... The team still tried to fight back but you could now see a class difference as Bayer just easily brought the 4-1 home over the last 30 minutes... I guess that showes that there is still lots to do here, but the first time also showed that the potential is definitely there... "Läbbe geed weidä" as we Hessians would say... greetz, Äppler
Got my tickets in the mail today for Eintracht - Nürnberg. I wouldn't normally go out of my way to see either of these clubs, but I have a friend flying in from the US on Friday, and I figured this would be a good game for him to see his first professional soccer game for several reasons. - two storied clubs (Traditionsvereine) - World Cup stadium with I am sure a good atmosphere. - he is flying into Frankfurt and I have friends in Frankfurt. On Monday night we will see Fürth - 1860. It will be a bit of step down but cool nonetheless.
2-1 for Frankfurt in yesterdays cupgame in oberhausen... I really wouldnt be able to say a lot about the game as I didnt actually get there until the 2nd halftime started... those DAMN FREAKIN DUTCH and their trailers had to jam up the whole autobahn so that it took us forever... second halftime was rather entertaining tough, as Frankfurt had at least 5 or 6 great chances, only scored once though... athmosphere was pretty good. about 2000 of the 3700 people there must have been from Frankfurt... well, at least its the first win of the season, so now I hope the next one is on against nuremberg!! greetz, äppler
I'm really looking forward to Saturday. I didn't expect to get anything from the Leverkusen game, though the goals we conceded were comical. I didn't expect anything from Berlin either. At least there we were unlucky. Hertha's first was a complete fluke and Van Lent probably wanted to commit suicide ofter the OG. Saturday is a key game for us. After a confidence-boosting cup win we should let loose on "Der Club" with both barrels. If we can't win this one, we are looking at a long and difficult season.
Yea I promised Cha Doo RI would score this week for Frankfurt and that they would win...I'm actually being nice to you ppl this week. Shocking isn't it. I don't hate this club btw....Frankfurt is okay by me.
EINTRACHT SEARCHING FOR FIRST POINTS Two defeats in two matches is already looking ominous for bottom club Eintracht Frankfurt, who will be looking to get off the mark against a Nurnberg side just a point better off. Frankfurt have looked like a fish out of water since returning to the top flight and will be eager to get some points on the board as soon as possible. Friedhelm Funkel admits he will be putting his friendship with Nurnberg counterpart Wolfgang Wolf to one side as he looks to get his promoted team's season going, albeit two weeks later than intended. Funkel said: "We really want to win this game and I expect us to do so." Wolf has five wins to Funkel's one in head-to-head meetings, a statistic that irks Funkel who said: "I will have to improve that record on Saturday." Oka Nikolov will be in goal for Frankfurt in the absence of regular custodian Markus Proll and will be handed the task of trying to keep out Marek Mintal, who was top Bundesliga scorer last season and who scored his side's last-minute equaliser against Hannover last weekend. Mintal, whose form has also given Slovakia a chance of qualifying for the World Cup next year, proved he has not lost his scoring touch with last week's strike and also a goal in the 4-0 DFB-Pokal win over Eschborn. Now he will be looking to score for Nurnberg against a team they have not played against for six seasons. Robert Vittek should start with Stefan Kiessling also available to Wolf should he decide on an attacking strategy against Frankfurt.
Re: Nuernberg match I was there. Great goal by Jones, by the way. Nürnberg were atrocious. Frankfurt not bad, but should have scored a goal or two more. The stadium is fantastic, but I was expecting a little bit better atmosphere. Granted, I was up in the nose-bleed section and about as far away from the die-hards as I could be. I went with an American friend who was seeing his first ever soccer game, and he was very impressed with everything, especially when "Eye of the Tiger" came on over the loud speakers.
It was an easy win for Frankfurt, despite the scoreline. Der Club have only one player, and if someone like Huggel puts him in his pocket for the afternoon then Nuernberg have no hope. A full report in English will be on http://www.fanabteilung.de later today.
hey nice work old uncle!! im glad to see you got the english section working after all! I am also very satisfied with the Nuremburg-game. Everybody knew we needed to win this, and the team showed the whole 90 minutes that they wanted to achieve just that! Great fighting, but also a great game! could easily have been 3-0... nuremberg really only had one chance, while we had at least 2-3 more that you just have to make... Now we can go to Hannover without having too much pressure on us, which is good! still, a point there would be rather important as Hamburg and Bayern are the next to games... greetz, äppler *singing* "wir tragen den adler im herzen, wir würden sterben für euch, und wenn wir dann auferstehen, dann singen und tanzen wir zu gleich, oooooooooooooooooooh, oooooooooooooooooooooh, ooooooooooooooooooooooh, und wir **** Hannover in den ****!!"
I don't know exactly why, but even BS is almost more sympathic than you guys! At least they have class when they pick on us.
In general I agree, but having thought about it... No Bs fan ever shot fireworx at me. can't say that about the Zwietracht Zankfurt game (yep, sat right in front of their section during the promotion battle). So in general I dislike BS more, but personally Frankfurt sucks and BS is quite ok ^^
Im sure BS does have class. Im sure they also never "decorated" a whole enemy-section with "juden-uf" and worse banners before a game... nice work by the hannover security and police to let them do it too... but what can I say, they're actually one of the few that are even worse than Frankfurts...
Ok, now where exactly did i say that?! Im just saying that Hannover arent exactly the nice guys that you would wish them to be... And if that was in the 90s, then so were the rockets... it was the same freakin game... greetz, äppler
Nope Off course those actions against you guy weren't nice, but as far as I can say it was done by a minority (you only need 3 guys to spray grafiti and a few ordner and policemen to not clean the wall)... while the majority didn't stop the shooting of the rockets. And as far as I remember it was the grafitis in the 90s that started the whole thing, than there was some flag stealing in a game in frankfurt and than the next game (last 96 - FF in 2nd BL, so it must have been spring 02) there was that rocket shooting.
arent you making it a lil bit too easy here? do you actually think that a majority of frankfurtfans would shoot rockets at familys?! seriously, if you see somebody in the very front of your block shooting rockets, how are you gonna stop them? all they need is a couple of people around them that support them... its still a minority... its not like this is the regular happening at our games... actually within the last two years we were probably one of the clubs with the least pyro-stuff. I can only recall one smokebomb during that time and that was in dresden last year... then I can recally two times that people tried it but were stopped before it really started... but thats just my personal impression... greetz, äppler
pröll seems to be still injured. he will be missing for 4 weeks i read... ps: hey hoop you didnt happen to be at the "odeon - fun fraternity" night yesterday? Cos I saw somone there with a shirt that read "hoops" on it...
