Shh, I was thinking of letting him do it, if only because in a poetic justice kind of way he's transfering in the most injury-prone ManU player not currently on my roster. ;) But yeah, transfers have to wait I think.

My bad.... it was an example.

So, Wes Brown is still available.... and Ledly King will be available on Tuesday as well.

    :D

Re: Tears of a Clown From Slicing Onions

Don't think we can make adjustments until Tuesday 10 AM. Sorry

I actually thought about allowing someone, during their turn, instead of drafting a new player, to drop one and acquire one and lose their draft turn, going to the end of the line. In this example, perhaps Michel could have dropped King and acquired Brown instead of drafting Carrick this round. Then, his normal Round 13 pick would slip to the 9th pick for Round 15. Since we haven't discussed this option, it is not approved for this year, but perhaps we might discuss it for next year's draft.

    Re: Transfers During Drafting

Didn't we have a case where one or more managers had to drop players to get within the draft budget in previous seasons?

    Re: Transfers During Drafting

You may be right. What a memory. We all keep better track on our funds now, except for Jay, :D so we don't have that problem. I kind of thought that we kept someone from drafting someone because he had exceeded the player from one team limit or the other managers could add that this manager would not have sufficient funds to complete the draft. I think it was all in a manager's turn. Regardless, it looks like we might have a tweak to make in how we draft to allow for some accomodatiion. I would hate to see the last few rounds be used by managers to adjust their team before the official free for all window opens, so we need to fully consider the ramifications of another draft rule.

Sorry to eavesdrop, but I'm resorting to vicarious drafts at this point:rolleyes:

Interesting precedent with mid-draft transfers, and since I'd think any decision reached will apply to all leagues next year, here's my input:

    1. I think our original reasoning in adding a supplemental, 16th round to the draft was to allow for bad luck situations like Michel's with King: a good pick who gets injured. I'm not sure what prompted Hal to pick future Fulham Reserves stalwart Malbranque, who won't sign a contract anywhere and certainly won't play for Fulham -- but again, I'd think the time to fix that would have to be in a supplemental round.

    2. The simple fact is that by conducting a transfer during the draft, a manager essentially avails himself of an extra pick while also denying other managers in the draft the players they transfer in.

I'll leave you who are active in this league to debate it, but that's my perspective...

Aviators select Finnan, Liverpool, Defender, 7.5.

I can't believe he's still available. There must be a reason the rest of you astute managers bypassed this guy, so, go ahead, what have I missed?

    Finnan, Liverpool, Defender, 7.5

Re: Draft Recap Thru Round 13 Pick 4

Cripes, this is just getting going again as I'm leaving work to go home and sleep for a few. I'm done with this lovely 96-hour/week job today, and no more draft after today? What timing. I'll surely be asleep (read: offending deeply the Hal Life Priority Dictates™) when my turn comes around again. ;)

Thus, another couple of proxies on the way to my brother.

I have Darr's proxies, so just waiting on Ralph to check in before he heads to the airport.

The recap above has been edited to now show through Round 13 Pick 6, my last pick.

I want to thank everyone for working so well to keep this draft going allowing for the 9-10 differences in time zones, 96-hour work weeks, imminent trips to the orient, dinners with the fiance and other family gatherings such as weddings, boat trips, etc., well done everyone.

I would've taken him instead of Hyypia, whose age will eventually tell, but the extra .5 and the prospect of Finnan competing for his job with Paletta and Aurelio fended me off.

Turns out niether of them play right back, so there you go, a steal!

But he was Liverpool's 2nd highest fantasy scorer last season, only 6 points behind the more expensive Gerrard! Hard to believe others wouldn't work him into their salary structure.

What's the over/under on how many more minutes before Ralph shows to make his picks?

He said he was leaving for the airport at 9:15 at the latest, that gives him 11 minutes from now.

I'll take 9:10 AM, 6 minutes from now.
