Round 1 Pick 4: Traded to Metrostars for player to be named later who turns out to be Brad Davis.

VERY COOL. I LIKE THIS GUY. I wanted him last year. WOOOHOOOOO.

Round 1 Pick 10 Shavar Thomas

You know. We have 5 good defenders now including Gbandi. Do we need a 6th?

We need someone to put the ball in the frigging net. Kreis ain't getting any younger and he disappears in September.

Yeah I edited my post once I found out who it was.

Chivas, Pareja, O'Brien, Vaca, Davis, D-mid Deering

Thats 6 quality starters in a crowded midfield. I feel like I am forgetting someone too.

I like our Defense. Our Midfield was the best in the league last year and just got better.

I'm wondering, what did the Metros gain by trading Davis?

The guy was one of last year's better rookies (4 goals & 3 assists in 1200 minutes) and was the #3 pick the previous year.

It seems to me like he'd be worth more than a #4 pick.

That's just what i was thinking.

I have no idea why they would give him up.

Granted Davis has only one season of experience - but that means he's still young and he has already proven he can play in MLS.

College players are a gamble and getting Davis is no gamble.

Burn pick David Comfort, GK, Univ. Virginia, with the 1st pick of the 3rd round.

I guess it's looking like Matt's staying in Portugal?

Does this mean that Chivas is out? or is Davis going to be in the bench?

My guess is that both will see a fair amount of action at left mid.

Is Thompson p-40? Nice local angle if he sticks.

Yes, Thompson's P-40 so I'd say there's a 95% chance he sticks with the team

ESPN Soccernet projected that we would take Shavar at #4. If that was accurate we basically ended up getting Brad Davis with a #12 pick. Gotta like that.

If you add Gbandi to our list of off-season acquisitions, we've made some significant additions to an already strong squad. Our depth is of such quality and versatility that Jefferies should have incredible flexibility in his starting XI. Maybe so much that we could survive 3 matches in 5 days this year. ;)

Nothing like a draft to get you really psyched up for the season. Can't begin soon enough.

Michael Mariscalco, Mid, Butler, with the 45 pick.

No idea. Welcome to the Burn, though!

My question is how did Thomas drop to #10? Was all that praise during the combine just smoke, or does his impending SI status influence the drop. Everyone said he was the best forward at the combine. Was that bull? What does this mean?

My guess is his international transitional status made him unfavorable to other clubs.

Both Walsh and Thomas appeared to have dropped a bit lower than expected due to their int'l status.

BTW, you made a slight typo, Jambon. Thomas is a defender, not a forward.

Congrats on stealing Tranchilla in the 4th round.....i can't believe he dropped that low. He will amaze you guys with some of the things he can do with a soccer ball. Great pick up by jeffries.

Pumped. Davis is an absolute stud and a future national teamer IMHO. He can play forward or left mid. He had some world class goals for the Mutts last year. As in Friedel and Keller wouldn't have saved them:)

Yeah I don't understand Bradley here. Mind you, you guys got a nice addition in Davis, and Magee is nice too, but then the metros pick Gaven also and he's very similar to Magee. At any rate you guys had a good draft, one of the best.

Yeah, I must congratulate you guys on a great draft day. Unfortunately, I can't say the same thing about my home team but...Mullan, what were Yallop and co. thinking?

BTW, you guys are stacked on Defense. Today while I was mowing the lawn I was seriously thinking LA had the best defense in the league, but I don't know anymore...you guys are good.

Dont forget Davis is a damn beast at free kicks. Better than Kries IMHO. He's gonna be ripping holes in nets.
