Metro Press release:
Now . . . Who can we get to replace him?
Well, there you go.
YSA = Allocation #1
Diallo = Allocation #2, SI slot #1
Faria green card = SI slot #2?
We'll be mighty different next year, again.
Lets put this sad chapter of Metro behind us now...
"I'm sorry, Mama. I never meant to hurt you. I never meant to make you cry, but tonight I'm cleanin' out my closet."
Man. Already into the Eminem quotes. Going to be a long offseason.
As for Diallo: Believe in Me NY, I believe in...how much...er...Believe in me Saudi Arabia, I believe in You.
too little, too late.
It's interesting to note that the press release is titled:
"METROSTARS SELL DIALLO TO SAUDI CLUB AL AHLI" and not "MLS SELL DIALLO..." as press releases normally have been worded in the past...I wonder what exactly (if anything) has caused this change?
they're trying to make this two-bit operation called MLS look legit.....
funny, that's how I feel about Tab....
lets say timmy leaves for holland,,,then we are officially left with our finger up our a$$
With Nick and OZ still in charge:
Allocation #1 - Bring back Alex Comas
Allocation #2 - Bring back Pedro Alvarez
Allocation #3 - Bring back Gilmar
Nick quote for 2003 - "With the 3-pronged attack of Comas/Alvarez/Gilmar, combined with the 1/2 dozen New Clint Mathises that I've developed, we're guaranteed to win it all!"
Or "With the 3-pronged attack of Comas/Alvarez/Gilmar, combined with the 1/2 dozen New Clint Mathises that I've developed, we're guaranteed to win it all in time for our new stadium on which we will have a major announcement in 2 weeks!"
On Footix's point, I wonder if Metro said they wanted to get rid of him. So MLS said "Fine, go find $ 500,000 and we'll deal him", so Metro did. Either way, it's not like we'll ever know. Just another question for the annual ESC vs. Nick question session in February.
Will Weah be his replacement??
THIS I'D LOVE TO SEE!!!!!!!!! Diallo = addition by subtraction
I think the Weah thing was a joke. Just maybe.
Sorry, I meant to say Baggio.
Thank effin' god that bastard is gone.
Sounds like the deal was good for everyone:
Diallo makes more money, the Metro's gain more salary cap/allocation flexibility, and the team has one less chemistry problem.
"[A] source close to the negotiation said the transfer netted Major League Soccer between $250,000 and $300,000 and Diallo a salary of $650,000. The sale also gives the Metros an allocation it can use to sign a marquee player."
how about Gazza?
this week is a good week for the metrostars. only one thing would make this even better, get a good player from europe.
Say what you want about Diallo but untill we find an actual goal scoring striker....we are up shi-'s creek.
where should i start. Faria, Davis, Mathis, oh yeah and Lisi
the entire US soccer fandom is well done with that sack of nothin'. You guys will be fine because I have a feeling that Mathis will be back with vengence.
