    Well, there you go.

    YSA = Allocation #1
    Diallo = Allocation #2, SI slot #1
    Faria green card = SI slot #2?

    We'll be mighty different next year, again.

    It's interesting to note that the press release is titled:
    "METROSTARS SELL DIALLO TO SAUDI CLUB AL AHLI" and not "MLS SELL DIALLO..." as press releases normally have been worded in the past...I wonder what exactly (if anything) has caused this change?

    With Nick and OZ still in charge:

    Allocation #1 - Bring back Alex Comas
    Allocation #2 - Bring back Pedro Alvarez
    Allocation #3 - Bring back Gilmar

    Nick quote for 2003 - "With the 3-pronged attack of Comas/Alvarez/Gilmar, combined with the 1/2 dozen New Clint Mathises that I've developed, we're guaranteed to win it all!"

    Or "With the 3-pronged attack of Comas/Alvarez/Gilmar, combined with the 1/2 dozen New Clint Mathises that I've developed, we're guaranteed to win it all in time for our new stadium on which we will have a major announcement in 2 weeks!"

    On Footix's point, I wonder if Metro said they wanted to get rid of him. So MLS said "Fine, go find $ 500,000 and we'll deal him", so Metro did. Either way, it's not like we'll ever know. Just another question for the annual ESC vs. Nick question session in February.

    Sounds like the deal was good for everyone:

    Diallo makes more money, the Metro's gain more salary cap/allocation flexibility, and the team has one less chemistry problem.

    from: http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?level_3_id=137&page=5234643

    "[A] source close to the negotiation said the transfer netted Major League Soccer between $250,000 and $300,000 and Diallo a salary of $650,000. The sale also gives the Metros an allocation it can use to sign a marquee player."
