    DC vs Kansas City (R)

    DC loses 5-0

Things are not looking good... I know I poo-poo'd the first result but this can't be good for their confidence...

Doug Hicks, on the Soccer Show, says the team fell behind 4-0 by halftime (again) and just couldn't dig themselves out of the hole..

Hicks went on to say that they fielded a young squad and held out some of the older guys...

Still, at some point this is going to get ugly if this continues....

    DC 0 - KC 5

    D'oh!

4 goals for Da Wiz in the first half. Doug Hicks of DCU is discussing the match right now on the Soccer Show. Apparently DC went with a young lineup to start. More details will surely be forthcoming on the DCU site, but I'm not sure I want to read anything more about this one.

Well....that sucks....I want to see the lineup before I pass judgment, but with any lineup we shouldn't be losing 5-0...I know it's only preseason, but still....

I blame Petke. I don't know if he played or not, but it is most certainly his fault.

    If it's dirty and ugly, it's Petke.™

I assume they went with some defenders, though.

I want to see the "young" lineup Hudson fielded before I pass judgment, but young and inexperienced or not we shouldn't be losing 5-0....

    Apparently everybody.

Seriously, though, I don't think Hicks mentioned the goalscorers.

Missing Nicki too. I wonder how much of the disorganization in the back has to do with Nicki's absence combined with new players and a possible language barrier with Ivanov.

Yeah, I thought of Nick after I hit send.
I don't know what language barriers there are.
I do know that this is disheartening, for sure.
I had been in Ray's corner all last year, but not 2 years in a row, not like this.
Again with the early injuries (Prideaux's hamstring).
This seems a consistant problem, early season injuries that never get properly treated.
Training and strength are the best preventative medicine for this sort of thing, so what is this team doing????

I hope KC used protection and lots of lubrication.

    Olsen

Connolly was on the soccer show and said that Olsen was probably out of this game, something about his hip....At least it wasn't his ankle....

If after getting their behinds whipped this is how the team responds, then someone is doing something wrong.

Comic relief, DC United fans need it badly!

KC has played a tougher pre-season (with their tour of SA--teams in mid-season form, competitively sharper than college teams in their offseason). Still, Wolff isn't fit. While I expected KC to be the better team, I wouldn't expect them to put up 5 goals against anyone right now. Ugly!

Nothing to worry about...just the pre-season...past performance not necessarily indicative of future results...still in a ten-way tie for first place...etc etc etc...

    Repeat until you feel better...
