:: Final Score :: DC United 1 :: 0 New England Revolution KEVIN ARA GOT PLAYING TIME! No Flames :: No Trolls
MOTM has to be Kevin Ara.... Seriously that was a lucky win, but hey doesn't matter whether it was lucky or not it's a win. I'm headed out to party 4 the night
it was a lucky win if it wasn't for the own goal then this game probably would have ended 0-0. One more thing, it it just me or is cerritos a worse player than raul diaz arce?
I thought a sharp crisp first half, but what an ugly second half. Why don't we try to score more than one goal? We stopped shooting, and just passed it until we lost it. And the last 20 minutes that was only one or two passes. Glad we finally got some luck.
Great win although kept me nervous Perkins definetly man of the match I just hope NJ and Chicago both lose
That last shot (?) by Cerritos was the ugliest thing I've ever seen. If he was that tired, what's he doing on the field?
The good... I know some may disagree with me but I thought Cerritos looked dangerous tonight...despite that horrible miss in the 85th minute. Convey looked fit and recovered from his hammy...which is a big relief...and once again Adu is showing improvement. I'm now convinced Adu will be a force in this league by the end of this season. Seriously...he's beating people off the dribble and getting in good positions to score...and slowly starting to read the game better. The bad... STOKES...I'm serious this guy needs A-league time. You can see the athleticism and he actually did a decent job at the end getting in the middle of things when we were bunkering. The problem is...when we're not bunkering he is a disaster waiting to happen.
soild game would have liked to have seen two goals and a dcu player score instead of an og. without question perkins is the MOTM. sell riamondo cause perkins made him look like crap.
Perkins looks like he knows what he's doing out there. I'd be happy with him starting for the forseeable future. Bobby and Benny back were a major plus. Adu and Cerritos both kept holding onto the ball a second too long. Bad camera work. But for the PK (which I thought was very questionable), Stokes looked pretty good in central defense. I thought that Kevin Terry had an exceptionally poor match. The same type of foul resulted in a yellow against DC, and a no call against NE. At one point, I saw a stat indicating 21 fouls against DC, 10 against NE. Not a fairly called match at all.
I turned it on at minute 60, so maybe I missed some things before then, but both Esky and Cerritos did well over the last half hour despite the rest of United hanging back at times. Also, while Stokes improved somewhat, he still lost headers he should've won, passed the ball to the other team in their third (if Twellman hadn't forgotten how to score it's a 1-1 game) and made stupid fouls in simple defensive situations. Again, I missed a lot of the game, how bad was the foul he gave up for the PK? All I can say is United is lucky they were playing the only team in the league with a worse record than them and more scoring trouble that they didn't get burned by Stokes' starting role.
He's getting transferred to DC tomorrow, BTW. Wow..we finally, get lucky. An own goal and a Missed penalty. Perkins popped up everywhere.. We needed Dema today..Dempsey shoulda got his ankles popped for some of the crap going on..
Perkins did well, but he is hyper aggressive off of his line. He also loves to leave his feet and dive for balls near the top of the box, something that could burn United for either a goal or at least a PK in the future if he's not careful. Clearly though, he has been United's best goalie so far, and you can't complain with a shutout.
Ok, player evaluations.. Perkins - In my mind, earned the starting GK spot again, got some key saves and looked confident again. My MOTM Prideaux - Nothing he really did stuck out in my mind, and for a defender thats usually a good thing Earnie - Set up the cross that lead to the goal, had some really good first touches, and diddnt send a single ball out of the stadium today Freddy - Good first touches, needs to pass it in the box some more instead of dribble dribble dribble kick it into two defenders shins Petke - A couple of crucial clean tackles in the box Benny - Nice to have him back, great defending and some creativity in the midfield again. He sent three or four over the crossbar though... Convey - Really nice to have his speed and creativity back, as one of the commentors said, he has really become a complete player Carroll - Really solid defending and smart fouling Gros - Our rookie of the year, hands down... Cerritos - Great game! Tons of shots on goal, although he could've finished a few better. He was really showing some hustle out there! Namoff - Unremarkable preformance, probably why he was subbed Esky - Lots of hustle as usual, killed some crucial moments on the clock. Stokes - What can I say..stupid penalty in the box that could've lost us two points, some solid play as well, good hustle coming out of the box and winning balls in the air. If he continues to improve game by game I will be less worried about him getting victimized.
If someone didn't do well for the 30 minutes I saw, why can't I make a point about it when I clearly state that I only saw those 30 minutes? I never said "Stokes sucked for the entire game" which very well could have happened and even more easily assumed. I stated that he did better in some things, but in just the 30 minutes I saw he was selling the Revs chances.
Namoff diddnt look so hot, which is probably why Stokes came in the first place. I like what Stokes gives us in the air for corner kicks, and I think he will get better week by week..
MOTM for me-Coach Nowak. Its nice to see that he actually coaches his players in training instead of giving an inspirational speech and hoping his assistant knows what he's doing. Stokes' play was 100% better tonight and that has to be Nowak's doing. I like that he is keeping faith with his rookies and is developing their talent and skill. This bodes well for the team. Also, Perkins has earned the keeper position for good tonight. No way Rimando saves that penalty. Convey and Olsen played well. Stewart played a solid game and proved to me that he should be on the field.
Good win. They're all good wins. Why was Namoff subbed? Stokes really needs to match his physical skillsd and attributes with the game. He has potential, but remains a liability. A big one. Convey and Stewart showed today why points are not the best proxy for an offensive player's worth. Perkins has great potential. Petke had a very good game. His best this year. Freddy has got stay up on fouls. Yikes.
I don't remember any corners from Ernie, but still some free kicks. Adu took one corner, Carrol took at least two, and Convey one or two. No need to restate the non-results from there.
Perkins was excellent. I think you start him until he loses the job. Which might be next week. Convey had some nice touches. Stokes was a freakin' train wreck out there. Let's hold off on giving Nowak MOM until we find out why the hell he put him in there at the half. I can see subbing him in late when you know the other team is gonna just be pumping the ball into the box. But he was [Bill Walton] horrible![/Bill Walton] Adu had some nice touches too. He seems to be making better runs. Still got a ways to go there. Petke pulled another ole' tackle like the one that gave Ralph the goal. Other than that, OK. Gros is a playa.
