No continuity, no midfield play, atrocious corner kicks, terrible marking on their corners, and Noel Kennys incompetence shines like an outhouse fire. What next??.....
And did my eyes decieve me or was one of those two on a shot from outside of the penalty area????? Also note that both goals were a result of vertical balls played down the wings not from a slow 15-20 pass bulidup. Did you see that Marco???????
The second half was a little better. More hustle and a great performance from Convey. Other than that it was a pretty disappointing effort. Q2 pretty much disappeared, why no Ali Curtis? And one thing thats bothered me thru out the season, Rimando's goal kicks. He doesn't seem to have much control or even a plan to get his kicks into the flow of play. He just seems to boot them out there and even manage to kick a couple out of bounds on occasion. We also did not take advantage of the corner kick advantage we had. They were all pretty dismal. Not to mention that alleged "Free Kick" Stoichtkov took towards the end of the game. Sheesh, I need a drink........
Just a few things: 1) It takes Hudson until the 2nd half to realize what this board has been saying for a long time: Convey belongs in the middle. 2) What is wrong with Olsen? He's better than that, he's already proven that this season. If he's hurt, he shouldn't play. 3) Quintanilla cannot play at this level. 4) We need Nelson. 5) Stewart is not on the same page as the rest of the team. He works hard, but they don't see his runs, and he's not getting the movement he wants. 6) Eskandarian looked pretty good out there. He needs more time. Well, good game Convey. At least all 4 of the run-of-play goals were sweet. Something unexpected from these two teams.
i saw the second half and i think we played so so look on the bright side convey actually scored 2 goals. I honestly don't think firing hudson will do anything. We just don't have good players at the moment. Hopefully we can get dante washington soon. Does dc united have an under 17 team? If not we seriously need to have one it's the only way we can develope future talent.
Aside from the free kick oddity, Stoitchkov had the right idea - drive the ball into the box. Would like to have seen Curtis as well, perhaps for Kovalenko or even Earnie. For the next match, move Earnie inside with Convey, sit Etch, and watch good things happen. BTW, did anyone besides me have trouble finding the touchlines? That is one confusing field!
