My team and I are ball kids for this one.. may we avoid the wrath of hristo. Id like to see: Rimando Prideux Petke Namoff Ivanov Olsen Etcheverry Quintinilla Kovalenko Curtis Eskandarian
Saturday's game Hi, I'm a soccer fan from the UK, and I'll be in DC (well, Arlington) on Saturday, so was hoping to catch the game, any tips on the best place in RFK to watch from, and also for a pre/post match drink would be gratefully received. Thanks, and all the best, John
Re: Saturday's game Come join us in La Norte. Right behind the goal and tickets are $15. Send me an E-mail if you're interested by clicking on the E-mail link below this message. Sachin
Re: Saturday's game Email one of the supporters groups tickets@screaming-eagles.com is the addy for the Screaming Eagles (midfield seats) I apologize I don't know the addresses for La Norte or Barra Brava but they are also a great time.
Thanks Thanks for the tips guys, looks like I'll be bouncing with La Norte if I can make it across the pond in time...! All the best, John
Hoping for some sunshine this weekend and a DC United win. I know, I know, I am asking too much, but a guy has to have dreams doesn't he. All this rain and the lack of scoring by DC is depressing, thank God for beer. -the Far Side
Well, we've got scorching sun and mid 20'sC here in London, I'll try and bring some over with me on Saturday...don't think I can do much about the goal drought tho' cheers, John
Sure as hell is. Sure as hell is. Sure as hell is. I'd type this like fifty more times, but there's no beer around here. I need a vacation. Anybody think it would be nicer in Seattle than here? How's about Scotland? I'm sure the weather is much better and there's really no football currently so that would be an improvement. As for the game...my wife expressed interest in going, so we'll probably head down, but 60% chance of severe thunderstorms is not exactly boding well. Remember back in the day when this team used to light it up in the rain...ah, the good ole days. I think I will spend time in the workshop sawing boards in half for no apparent reason instead of heading to RFK. Tim
Columbus missing: Cunningham Hejduk Martino Oughton Maisonneuve Walsh DC missing: Convey Stewart 0-0. Sigh.
Absolute must-win for DCU. We're at home, still 4 points back from Chicago, but they have a game in hand. We really need the 3 points here. 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points!3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points! 3 points!
Not meaning to troll, but it looks like Mais may play in this one, but you can probably add Buddle to the list of those who are out.
In the match preview on MLSNet (which wasn't up when I posted that), they've both been upgraded from Out to Questionable. http://www.mlsnet.com/games/03/tracker.php?gamename=06142003_CLBDC&version=preview Also - Ref: Terry Vaughn.
we will win 4-1, amazingly etchevery finds that if he runs differently he has 4.17 speed! Quintanilla gets a goal, kovalenko gets one, curtis and eskadarian.
United, 3-0. We sneak in a lucky goal sometime in the first half, and that brings things to life and we start humming.
Hmmmmm. Some people have been smoking some really quality stuff. We might win, but it'll be low scoring and close. 1-1.
Add Nelson to the players that are out for DC (as well as Quaranta, who has the mysterious abdominal injury and the long-term absentee, Reyes). If it's Curtis and Eskandarian (with Hristo as a late sub) vs. Buddle and McBride, I like their striking pair a lot more than DC's. But the Columbus defense isn't that good even with Hejduk and their midfield will be pretty piecemeal. Another RFK 0-0 tie?
My sister's team did that 2 years ago, they had a blast. Its great for autographs too, since you are standing there on the field with the players when they come out after the game. It was during that match that I ended up sitting in the owner's box next to Marco and Benny. I'm still not sure how that one worked out.
Colorado has the worst defense in the league, and without any central midfield it sounded like we maintained midfield control there. While the Crew aren't as bad as Colorado in the back, and are far better in central midfield (even without Martino or Mais), they are one of the weakest defenses in MLS. If we go a second consecutive weak without scoring on a bad defense, that needs to be the end of the Hudson/Trask experiment of refusing to teach or demand offensive structure. DC United 2 - 1 Columbus Crew I simply do not think we can shut out the Crew, even at home, even with them missing so many offensive weapons. They're just too good offensively and too deep. Heck, they didn't even have room for Dante Washington. -Digital
