They are also the same type of striker right? Both can't dribble or create.

I admit I was a bit harsh on Luis but the bottom line is that Shenhua could get a much better foreigner than him.

Jancker is simply not fit and I am not sure he ever will be again.

I'd be happy if Luis left and a better player came in. He can score goals but not create, nor dribble or pass terribly well. Not exactly something you want in a striker...

Well, our Shenhua is playing Liaoning away
    Guoan is playing Xiamen away

Whether or not Shenhua can advance to ACL will depend on how Guoan does against Xiamen. If Guoan draws and Shenhua draws, Shenhua finishes second. Both teams win, Shenhua still finishes second. Both team loses, Shenhua still finishes second.

Only scenario that works against us is that Guoan wins and Shenhua loses. Looking at goal differential, this is the only scenario that would hurt our Shenhua

Regardless of the results, Shenhua tops Guoan

This year, Shenhua drew guoan in Shanghai and Beat guoan in beijing.

Also, Shenhua beat Shandong 2-1, which account for 1 out of the only 2 losses Shandong had all season.

Guoan fans can give that stupid 9-1 a rest now, but I don't blame them for keep mentioning it, since it is the only thing they can brag about. Given that Beijing has a pathetic history in CSL.

love to agree with you but............ no

both team have the same number of points as of now. Beijing win and Shenua draw will allow Beijing to finish second

I think shanghai_ultra meant second overall in the league table, not second between Shenhua and Beijing.

9-1 will never die. I would imagine its the worst defeat in CSL history, and just for that, it should live on. As long as there's football played in Beijing and Shanghai and some connection can be drawn to Guoan and Shenhua, 9-1 will live on.

Of course we can brag about much more, but we aren't the bragging type, not like Shenhua fans who actually like to brag about finishing 2nd. I'd like to see Beijing finish 2nd and potentially get into ACL, but other than that, its not a big deal, 2nd or 3rd, either way, all that matters is 1st. What was it that Jose said, 2nd only means your first place among the losers or something like that?

As for who will finish last, if all the math done above is correct as to tiebreakers, then a Beijing win and Shenhua draw or loss is Beijing's only shot. Haha, is the first tiebreaker goal differential? How many are BJ behind?

Even then, Guoan has never appeared in ACL while Shenhua appeared numerous times in the ACL.

I disagree that second place is not an accomplishment. It doesn't replace first but it's still better thatn the rest.

Greenlion would know best, but I believe Shanghai has 4 appearances in Asian competitions to Guoan's 3...

IM starting to lose track... lets just hope Shenhua does the business and wins this weekend then we dont have to mess around with our calculators.

I hope you don't mind me calling you a duck Greenlion - you are the most knowledgeable member of this board and as someone who cannot read Chinese your posts are invaluable. Thank you.

Im sure you enjoy the banter though. Here's to a Shanghai-Beijing 1-2 next season (in that order of course) :D

We should have 3 but unfortunately we only appeared to be there twice, that's all because the stupid AFC gives the 2001 League champions chances to play 2003 ACL instead of 2002 Cup winner:mad:, and the bluejay had been there 5 times but... nevermind~ they've never reached the Semi-Final stage as we did in 1998 and in fanct they've only advanced to the quarter-final once:D
