And some of us can't be there. Who else here will be doing TOSRV?

The rest of you will have to cheer just that much louder!

I won't be able to make this game either... I have my lady's commencement to go to, should be a mind-numbing thrillride.

I wonder if its ok to tailgate at the ceremony? Its at a catholic church, degree of difficulty is rising.

I'd give it a ten if it was at a Mormon church. Just make sure the Priest gets a fifth to look the other way.

If it's an Irish parish, the priest will provide the keg!

Colorado's a disaster. This game is at home, not in Colorado where we usually play terrible. Anything less than 3 points here is a monumental disapointment. I could conceivably see a 4-1 rout here.

Hang is spot on concerning the club's record in Colorado, although I can still remember the drubbing the Crew gave the Crapids in '99.

    Results from Denver:

    2002: Colorado 2, Crew 1
    2001: Canceled (scheduled for 9/12)
    2000: Colorado 0, Crew 0
    1999: Colorado 0, Crew 3
    1998: Colorado 2, Crew 1
    1997: Colorado 2, Crew 0; Colorado 2, Crew 1
    1996: Colorado 2, Crew 1;

I see a win here as well. Then again, I saw a win against KC and the Metros. Nothing like blantant homerism.

I don't see Colorado having anything threatening up front. There midfield is nonexistent. Unless, of course, they get that Jamaican this week. But still, there's going to be an adjustment period for him.

There defense isn't all that overwhelming, either. I expect to Pablo hacking the ************ out of Martino. At least, that seems to be his style this season with the few games I have caught. I don't see them containing McBride and Cunny, unless Cunny goes into Hyde-mode. McBride should be able to power over anyone in their back line.

And I see no problem with Heijduk keeping Chung under wraps. I know that Chung can switch sides, but I doubt he will be pushing down the right side all that much.

Other than that, I have only one suggestion to make. If Carrieri makes it onto the field, put McCarty in so he can clear his ass into the stands.

Bottom line: This one is for the taking, if, IF the Crew want. If they play the same way we did against KC, which KC is a much better IMHO, then we should put this one away early.

I don't think it's blatant homerism at all. The only games I look at on teh schedule and think that we might need to settle for one point are Chicago on the road (history), and LA and SJ on the road. If healthy I expect us to be better than everyone else.

That is if he plays for Colorado, if he gets on the field against Mexico.

Colorado really needs to do something about their defense. It's really horid. I like Jeff Stewart alot, but he's no CB. He's best used at RB where he can get into the attack. If I was Hankinson, I'd think about pushing Pablo into the back and giving Beckerman a shot in the midfield. A little drastic, but something needs to be done to stabilize that defense.

The Crew should treat this team like it did NE. Just push it around, keep it on the ground at Martino's and Cunningham's feet and let them create goals for you. If that's done, those two will find a way for the Crew to put 3 or 4 in easy.

I would like to think that we'd be able to get that many goals, but I'm sceptical. We haven't exactly been lighting up our opponents or firing on all cylinders for that matter.

Something just doesn't seem to be clicking right now, and I wonder what it is. Could it really be Buddle? What is his status, will he play this week?

I think it is the defensive schemes we have been facing. It's tough to ramp up the offense when you're being hacked down after every 3rd or 4th pass. There's physical soccer and ugly soccer. Teams are playing ugly. Period.

I hope as the season rolls on that we will be treated to more exhibitions like the last game. If not, then this is going to be one long season.

Completely agree if we play like we did against NE or even NY the 1st time we'll do great this year if everyone gets tired of playing hackball. I think in the 2nd NY game we were cautious about getting torn apart especially when they had so many defenders back.

I like the way the Crew is playing. Moving the ball cross field will help stop the bunching of defenders and if certain players are a little more intelligent off the ball, we'll do fine. But if the rest of the league doesn't grow out of the frustrated hack defending - we won't have anyone to score goals.

    Mmmm... homerism

My favorite home game win was 98 Crew stopping the Fire's 11 game win streak. Thanks mostly to Chicago's 3rd string keeper.

    Man, I miss home games.

I think we just need to learn to change tactics in the middle of games. If we can keep going down the flanks change it up...send balls over the top or diagonally.

For God's sake, keep the ball on the ground. This means you Denton.

Pass to the open man. Knock it around the back, look for space to play the ball into.

Agree. But I don't think teams can really compete with our flank players. That's why we return to that well so often.

What you're suggesting is a weakness in coaching. There may be some validity to that assumption. But the players also need to determine during the flow of the game what is and isn't working and make changes accordingly. That's why that game against the Metros was so damn frustrating. We didn't change tactics at all.

Truthfully, I would be very happy to not bunker in with gobbs of time left on the clock. We are too damn creative to not continue attacking for 90 minutes, even if we have the lead.

This is exactly what I thought we were going to do during the 2nd NY game. I though that we would lure Bradley into thinking that he figured us out. Come out after the 1/2, switch it up, draw defenders out, play some through balls in - bunker ball defeated.

But no. We came out - Denton to Mais to Frankie crossing it into 10 defenders with Jeff and Brian hidden.

Exactly...the second New York game our flank players were shut down.

If they are expecting something down the flanks I say send it stright over the top for someone to run onto. Their defense will probably be cheating wide anyways.

No I think he is playing great. he just needs to quit being a spazz when he's passing the ball forward.
