There is clearly a double standard with regards to the world's perception of Chinese players. Man Utd's Patrice Evra today, on his debut, performed below his ability and was subbed out at halftime. None of the goals were directly his fault, but he didn't help either. Yet he will experience none of the excoriation that Du Wei had to face.

Yeah well I was hoping against hope. Why do players from other nations get to jump straight into the action, e.g. Evra? I don't think Zhang will get to play in the first team. His move is even more business-oriented than Du Wei's.

 

Except for him getting nutmegged for United's lone goal, Sun played quite well IMO. He definitely looks the most comfortable at right back.

Something I noticed... is it me or does all his passes kind of... um... hop? Most of the balls he played today seemed kind of meek which kind of lobbed and hopped instead of going straight along the ground. I'm thinking he may need more pace and confidence into his passing. Other than that, I didn't find any glaring flaws. Good game for him and good to see that even with a new signing he stays on the first team.
