No, I am talking about next year. When the Charlotte USL Pro team goes to PDL, this team in WV is currently an affiliate of Charlotte. I wonder if they will still be affiliated?

It seems like they share ownership and I believe they "pay" players through ministry now so no real need to change.

They'll just own 2 PDL teams.

They aren't owned by the same people, they're just both Christian teams so they work together closely (joint combines, ect.). The Mississippi Brilla work with them too. Charlotte is directly affiliated with the Southern California Seahorses, both are owned by Missionary Athletes International, so is an independent team in Chicago. I'm not sure what will happen with Southern California since Charlotte is very much the main team given that they share offices with the parent org. SWV is owned by the Nehemiah Group and Countryside Baptist Church, and Mississippi is owned by Brilla Soccer Ministries.

Charlotte, SoCal, and the Chicago Eagles are all affiliates. Chicago Eagles are a U23-ish academy in Chicago that does work in Brazil too. Nice little thing MAI has going on.

The SWVKW and Charlotte are basically affiliated through the head coach of SWVKW -- he's a former player of Charlotte and a historic coach in North Carolina. But, the head of Nehemiah group has a head on his shoulders to partner ministries (organizations) together that have like missions.

Thanks for filling me in. I did not know all of that. I knew the Brilla were an outreach as well, but not the way that they worked together.

MAI really does have a nice little set up. It's one thing to be a brilliant flash in the pan for a few seasons but to sustain something for as long as they have on a pretty modest budget is really impressive. Hopefully they find some stability in the PDL.

Just to clarify, if a player in on staff with Charlotte, they raise their own support / pay. I do believe they have a small budget to pay players who are not on staff.

So are the Eagles that bad this year or are the Dutch Lions that good?

I watch most the match and Charlotte had the majority of the play. They had two goals called back (one offside and one for a foul) and Dayton's goal was against the run of play.

Dayton's keeper Matt Williams was the man of the match IMO. He made a couple spectacular saves and if he hadn't Charlotte could have been up 2 or 3 at the half.

I didn't see all of the second half but overall I thought the Eagles looked like the better team and probably thinking they deserved more from that match

I didn't know one win determines how "bad" or how "good" a team is.

While I agree on the goals called back (it was offsides and there was a foul) I thought most of their possession was haphazard with little direction. Even when they had corners, they were no where near the box.

To me, it looked like Dayton took the normal away approach of not making mistakes and playing bunker and the capitalized on their ownly good chance (shortest guy making the header).

I guess I just expected more against a team like Dayton at home, especially since they were runners up last year.

Well, the Eagles did turn over more then half of their starting lineup. I'm guessing that it's going to take them a few games to come together. But they started out last season pretty poor and ended up making a run to the final. So you never know.
