I'm making a page to print out, this and "Deep in the Heart of Texas" and "Texas our Texas" and "Sylvia Sucks" have been added to my original 6. Since everything will have to fit on one page only the most poplular/basic ones will be listed.
Good call. I say 10 (15 at most) chants that are short, simple, and easy to remember. Get the basics down first and then we can add in player specific chants. We have to walk before we can run. Deep in the Heat and Texas our Texas are best suited for halftime and pregame in my opinion. They are longer and take away from the action on the field when we sing it during play. I'd like to add the "You'll never beat Pat Onstad". The tune doesn't mimic anything (at least not that I am aware of) but it's easy and would pay homage to some of the San Josers...yanks02 knows the tune so she could easily teach everyone at the next tailgate. Also, keep a few spots open for some Spanish songs. Hopefully we can get some creative, easy to sing, Hispanic songs in the mix.
Nobius I love those chants you modified. They are better since you modified them and they have a classic England style lyric that make them great. Nice job. Also like the : If you think the refs an asshole clap your hands (clap-clap) When I was at an Aston Villa game they said: (one person stands up with arms outstretched) Stand up if you hate City (Birmingham City) Stand Up if you hate City (Then everyone in the section stands up and sings and claps hands. etc.
I've added "You'll never beat Pat Onstad", I left the two Texas ones for now, if we get more and need room they can be removed from this list. We can also have this list for general use, and another with more specific/longer chants that won't be used as much that we only distribute amongst ourselves.
I've got some that are hard to spell out here. I'll try and teach people at the tailgate Saturday. I love the "you'll never beat Pat Onstad" one. We need "Hawaiian Superman" *clap clap clapclapclap* for Chingy (the superman because last night on the news it said that superman is his favorite action guy) I don't think we should do many of the long songs. We need very short one or two line chants, and then maybe Deep in the Heart of Texas and Eyes of texas at halftime. No one is going to be able to sing during the game. Something like "come on Houston, come on Houston" over and over again so that way the entire crowd can follow. I'd like to do "Here we go, here we go, here we gooo. Here we go, here we go, here we go-oh. Here we go, here we go, here we goo. Here we go-oh. Here. We. Goooo." at the start of the game. I love the "stand up, if you hate (team name). Stand up, if you hate (team name). Nobius, your "and I'll hang around as long as you will let me. And I never minded standing in the rain. You don't have to call me darlin, darlin. You never even called me by my name." And this one for LA: "la la la la la, la la la la la, la la la la la, LA sucks a**" I have alot of LA ones actually. imagine that. nobius, alot of yours are too long and ot tha well known. For the first couple of games until we get alot of new members, we need really simple ones.
D-Y-N clap clap A-M-O clap clap D-Y-N-A-M-O DYNAMO clap clap. Simple and sounds good if everyone is singing. We need 3 or 4 GREAT standards from Mexico if anyone has any.
I posted a Spanish one for Moreno, and I've been trying to work on a Mexican one. The song is that one everybody knows, "Ay ay ay ay canta y no llores", but I can't think of lyrics. But basically, one line, eveybody knows the ay ay ay aaaay part. Maybe: Ay ay ay aayyyy Somos Dy na mo (we are Dynamo) or Ay ay ay aayyy Mas y mas goles (more and more goals) or Ay ay ay aayyy Anota mas goles (score more goals) You may want to run this by Sylvia Gatos first.
Hey....don't forget about the one I wrote/demoed here. If you like it, that is. I wrote the "tune" as well as the ultra simple words: Die Hard Dynamo! (repeat until hoarse)
These are the ones I can get on one sheet easily. I could probably increase the margins and maybe get a couple more 1-2 liners. I mostly used easy to remember songs. Yanks were you talking about my modified Coe song or the original? I couldn't find mine so used the original. One liners (keep repeating): 1. Ay! Oh! Dynamo! 2. You’ll never beat Pat Onstead! 3. Hawaiian Superman! *clap clap clapclapclap* 4. We want [more/four/etc] 5. Dynamo! Dynamo! 6. Stand up if you hate [visitor]! 7. Sylvia Sucks! Sylvia sucks! 8. Ole! Ole, Ole, Ole, Houston, Tejas (Repeat) 9. DeRo song (to the tune of "Mr Tally Man") Deeeey Ro. Deeyaayay Ro De Ro score mon they wanna go home 10. If you think the refs an asshole clap your hands (clap clap) If you think the refs an asshole clap your hands (clap clap) If you think the refs an asshole If you think the refs an asshole If you think the refs an asshole clap your hands (clap clap) 11. He’s Blind! He’s Deaf! We hate the ********ing ref! Deep in the Heart of Texas 12. The stars at night, are big and bright, Deep in the heart of Texas, The prairie sky is wide and high, Deep in the heart of Texas. The sage in bloom is like perfume, Deep in the heart of Texas, Reminds me of, the one I love, Deep in the heart of Texas. 13. One-Eight-Three-Six [visitor] can suck our D!cks! 14. Texas, Our Texas! all hail the mighty State! Texas, Our Texas! so wonderful so great! Boldest and grandest, withstanding ev'ry test O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest. God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong, That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long. God bless you Texas! And keep you brave and strong, That you may grow in power and worth, throughout the ages long! 15. Your Sister is your Mother Your Uncle is your Brother You're all F**kin each other The [visitor] family da da da da..... Baa Baa" 16. Well, i was drunk the day my mom got out of prison And i went to pick her up in the rain But before i could get to the station in my pickup truck She got run ned over by a damned old train And i’ll hang around as long as you will let me And i never minded standing’ in the rain Yyou don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’ You never even call me by my name (repeat last 2 lines) 17. Chris’s Chant Dieee-Haard. Dynamo-ah!
Thanks, nobius. I feel nice and included now If I hear it at a game I'll be the proudest guy in section 206
shrink that font!!!!! have you guys checked with the FO about maybe getting a page in the official program to print chants...maybe just 1 chant a week or something until people learn them?
I thought about it but didn't want to give y'all too much homework. Ok Page 1 will be the oft-used chants and page 2 will be some longer but fun ones.
Dre likey...I would suggest one slight alteration though. Replace "The [insert team name] family" with "the girls from FCD". I think it flows a little better and it can be our first anti-Dallas chant.
What do you think of this as an homage to the Quakes? Original (From Buffalo Soldier by Marley) Said he was a buffalo soldier win the war for america; Buffalo soldier, dreadlock rasta, Fighting on arrival, fighting for survival; Driven from the mainland to the heart of the caribbean. Singing, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy, Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy! Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy, Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy! Revised: He was a San Jose soldier in the war for MLS; San Jose soldier, former Earthquake, Fighting on arrival, fighting for the Dynamo Bringing a winning team, to the heart of Houston land. Singing, woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy, Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy! Woy yoy yoy, woy yoy-yoy yoy, Woy yoy yoy yoy, yoy yoy-yoy yoy!
I also like the: Who's your father, who's your father, who's your faaaather, referee? Never got one, never had one, you're a bastard, referee. -Sung to Clementine (is that the name of that song?) Then you always have the: Ooooooh ohhhhhh oh oh oh ohhhhhhhh Dy-na-mo (it's really hard to explain this online lol) And another one like this last one that can't be explained online. Also for the David Allen Coe one, I say we just do the: And i’ll hang around as long as you will let me And i never minded standing’ in the rain You don’t have to call me darlin’, darlin’ You never even call me by my name Just those lines will be easier to learn.
Maybe next year when I've got the money. But I'm not giving up my posh seats in section 206, dammit! Besides, I'm a quiet, shy, computer geek and Eurosnob wannabe - I don't drink, I don't own a Houston Dynamo shirt (see money issue above), and my favorite band is Coldplay -- so I don't think I'd make for very good Texian Army material. I can't be arsed with standing up and yelling at the top of my lungs all game - I'm much too into concentrating fully on the game and yelling at the ref for crap calls. Plus...flares scare me I'll just contribute from afar and on the BS boards, but I do appreciate your enthusiasm in trying to get me to join up. Die hard Dynamo!!!!!!!
For DCU's visit, the RS has also adapted "My Darling Clementine" as: Who's your father, who's your father, who's your father, Freddy Adu? You ain't got one, you ain't got one You're a bastard, Freddy Adu (Sorry, this is technically a mention of new chants - BTW, thanks for crediting me for the Blitzkrieg Bop chant...)
There's also: Same old (insert team name here, I always used LA), always (choose diving, cheating, hacking, etc) So it's Same old LA, always diving (repeat) For Dallas, we can always use: same old Ruiz, always diving.
