what a day for this group! brazil/usa and cameroon/turkey.

i am expecting this game to be one the best games of the tourny. i hope a good amount of fans show and dont just flock to the brazil game so that there could be a good environment.
this game is very important for both teams as a win qualifies them for the next round, but a tie still leaves them in a good position.

does anyone who knows more about either team expect any changes to the lineup?
for turkey i liked everything i saw from their starters, no one seemed to get that fatigued, and luckily there were no injuries.
as for cameroon i did like most of what i saw from the starters but i liked Job after he got into the game.

For the love of God, let there not be a draw between Cameroon and Turkey. Of course, if the USA loses to Brazil then we deserve to be eliminated if the other two are on four points by the end of the day.

Failing that, this ought to be a good game. Turkey played rather well as did Cameroon yesterday.

This game is fascinating. I don't think they've ever played each other before, and they're both very different in style. Technical vs Physical.

I favour Cameroon because Turkey are missing a lot of their big players, and Cameroon have a bit more individual quality.

This should be a very good game indeed. Can't
wait for it. It's being played at the Stade de
France in Paris so there should be a good
    crowd for it.
L'Equipe is giving these teams as probable ( not confirmed) for this game. (They are pretty
    accurate, usually):

Turkey: Rustu - Fatih, Alpay, Korkmaz, Ibrahim - Volkan, Sahin Selcuk, Ergun - Basturk - Okan Yilmaz, Tuncay

    Cameroon:Kameni - Perrier-Doumbé, Mettomo, Song, Tchato - Geremi, Djemba, Foé, Mbami, Idrissou - Eto'o

please describe how the goal was lucky for eto'o? they only argument i can seen being made is that a brazilian defender (lucio i think) jumped up to head the ball clear and missed it, besides that i dont see eto'o running with one defender on him and volleying an excellent shot past dida as lucky.

Please cease from discussing anything even remotely football related ever again. Only a complete and utter idiot could make such a statement.

oh ok, who died and made you president? I'm not saying that Cameroon is bad, I just said that they didn't SHOW their potential against Brazil, and that if they play like that again, Turkey has a very good chance at winning it. Notice I didn't have to resort to calling you and idiot to get my point accross.

Two possible titles for the game...

    "Turkey Shoot"

    or

    "Lion Safari"

    ?

Should be an excelllent game. Turkey has so far played 2 African teams in recent memory. They lost a friendly during spring 2002 to South Africa (0-2) and then as everyone knows beat Senegal (1-0) on a golden goal. So not exactly a great track record. African teams always intimidate me because of the sheer explosive power of their players and their creative attacking style.

The nightmare scenarios for Turkey is that everytime they try buidling up one of their over-engineered mid-field-passing attacks into Cameroon box, the Lions will hit them back with deadly counterattacks based on the physical qualities of their players.

I think Costa Rica (allhtough they are not African, their players have similar qualities) hit Turkey back the same way during their 1-1 draw last year. Same story with South Africa's 2-0 victory.

Frankly as a Turk, I'm a little worried.

So far Cameroon are the better team with most of the action in Turkey's end.

Turkey comes back with a real chance as Tuncay shoots wide of the net. He should have done better.

why did the ref just card Song? If a card was deserved then only Basturk deserved one. I hate when refs feel like they have to "even it out" like that.

Cameroon are showing they know how to handle the ball, they are fast and are also winning the air game. Unless one of the teams makes a defensive mistake, or they get tired and let the other team take over, I think this two teams could tie it.

if i understood the audio properly, it seems as tho at the beginning of the 2nd half Sanli and someone else for Turkey had a great chance to score, one off the initial opportunity and the 2nd off of a rebound.

Volkan is off for Gokdeniz Karadeniz
and Joseph-Desire Job is on for Mohamadou Idrissou. I am sure Job is gonna be another spark for Cameroon.

These English and Irish (i think) announcers from Eurosport seem to really fancy Cameroon. They keep on complimenting them and saying how this is a side that could shut down any team.
Seems as though Turkey is getting more possession as of late but they are confident that Cameroon is disciplined enough to contain them.

Turkey are really pushing forward this half and have already had a couple of real good chances.

Turkey is definitely looking more dangerous right now. They seem to be matching Cameroon in play and possibly playing better than them now. Selcuk Sachin has a couple of chances as of light.

Tuncay shoots the ball and it was cleared off the line, the announcers thought it was a goal for a second as did the crowd, very close.
