As everyone know by now, I've been running the same this for the EPL since August, and we've had close to 250 ppl playing.

So I went ahead and revamped the programming, got a real domain name and now it's time to launch this upcoming season's game.

And YES, it's FREE. There's NO SPAM...no ads, no nothing. Ask any of the 200+ people who have played the EPLPL...it's just a game pure an simple (sorry had to add this line just in case some mad think's something is up)

This is a combination of Guinho's WPL from last year and my EPLPL game. The scoring is a little different than what we've been doing for the EPLPL as well, adding into it dred's suggestion of the "blowout" rule and the "tie" rule.

The good thing is, you won't see ANY math errors. Ever. You also won't have to miss any picks either since there is a built in email reminder function as well (yes...you can turn it off if you want)

I am working on getting some prizes set up within the next few weeks, but I have already earmaked $100 of my own cash towards them.

Here is the link Goal! League

The first matches are the CONCACAF Champions Cup on March 17th. So you've got about 3 weeks to register in time.

If you do register, (or even if you dont...) do everyone a favor and add your name to this thread as sort of a bump so it shows up on the home page as well and we can get several hundred people playing.

If you have any troubles registering, follow the help section and you should be fine.

    Good Luck people.

    thanks for your hard work

it works well. I had a hard time choosing my favorite team, though. Didn't see a category for plain vanilla MLS fan. Now that I have chosen do I have to post regularly in the MLS rivalry boards now?

Re: thanks for your hard work

You didnt look carefully enough :D

You can switch your league at any time....go to the YOUR LEAGUE section and at the bottom there is the "change your league" link...

upon clicking that you can change...or create your own. And yes..there was the MLS Fans league as well.

You folks will need someone to make all of you look good. Real Athol is in!
(Athol is an actual town about 40+ miles west of Boston - if anyone really cares)

Re: Re: thanks for your hard work

yes, funny how I missed that :)
but, that's fine I am a man of conviction - I will stick with my adopted team. The hardest working team in MLS. If the real Columbus Crew fans promise not to call me a "Glory Hunter" then maybe they can make just a bit of room for me. This last statement would be funnier if I chose the Burn I guess.

It doesn't look like there will be one here, or rather, this is it. Tree, I am forever in your debt!
It might be nice to post the standings in a thread here, or not.

HOwever, I would like to hash out that scoring system. I don't think we ever came to any conclusion, and in fact, I'm not even sure what it is currently. Could you post that?

    Thanks!

    np.

The stadings are listed on the site as well though..maybe just keep it a point to bump this thread during the season to keep it fresh...

THe scoring system is listed on the site under the "how to play" section

    Gotcha!

So here's the scoring as it stands:
Standard Points - The standard points go for all matches.

    Things I notice are that:

    1) no exact goal differential points
    2) no distinction between home and away
    3) there are a bunch of bonus points for various exact score predictions when the games are really wild. (I don't expect well see any of these).

    Any comments?

not true on the "wild score" matches...

recently there ave been lots of wierd results in the EPLPL like Spurs in particular...they've had 4-2, 4-4, 4-3 and 3-4 results in the past month alone...if you read the EPLPL official thread there were suggestions to add a "high score" bonus as those matches were just getting three points a pop, and calling those would be nearly impossible...

The "exact goal differential points" are just the bonus points...read a little more carefully...Myabe its my writing "skills" but they are there...take a look at the same table as well, that should clarify a bit

Out of Touch, despite what Guinho says, I am open to the idea of a second league and am willing to run it if there is sufficient interest. I started a separate thread to discuss the idea, but so far that thread hasn't generated any response.

I don't want to look like I am trying to horn in on Tree's thread, so why don't we talk about the future of the MLS WPL in the other thread? Thanks.

    Going to sign up, definitely.

The EPLPL has been run very smoothly, and I would expect one about MLS to be run in the same manner.

Since the title of this thread includes "Official BigSoccer" I'm going to post here that, assuming there is interest, I intend to run an MLS soccer prediction league right here on BigSoccer.

I will write code to read the predictions right out of the threads so that we can have immediate and exact results.

The system I intend to use will be simpler, yet I believe it better rewards good pickers and may even be more fun. The system involves placing wagers on games and is described here.

I encourage everyone to also play Treetaliano's league.

    Re: Count me in...

It's basically the same as the EPLPL...almost exactly..just with the added "dred" points

man I gotta learn how to write...I think I confused myself too...I'll try to rewrite it so it resembles English, cuz you arent the first person who has said this
