I've actually barfed like that, in terms of quantity, velocity and texture, when I caught a really bad case of the flu back in April. Luckily, I was already hugging porcelain so cleanup was a little easier. But also remember that creating real looking stage-vomit isn't as easy as it seems.
I've read somewhere (sorry, can't remember source) where a mobster was saying that the David Chase has to be close to someone who's in the mob to know the stuff that makes it on screen. From what I understand, the in-family politics and everyday activities are pretty authentic.

I think Sil wanted to see how much clout he still has with Tony. It was a test of sorts.

Ralphie is playing both sides as always.

You know Faruza Bazalk (sp?) (Waterboy, The Craft, etc) was actually cast as the FBI agent @ the end of last season. Then they did the switcheroo @ the beginning of this season.
I wonder if the casting change caused them to truncate that storyline.

    Indeed.

when i was 12-13 i was really sick with the flu, and i didnt make it to the toilet in the bathroom before i puked...i now know what my mother saw as i puked all over the bathroom. good god that was disgusting, and to think, my poor mother had to clean up after me.

anyways. interesting story lines going on right now. i have a feeling that sil is indeed trying to test out tony and see how much respect and clout he has with him, but i think it may just backfire on his ass in the end.

and ralphie, i just wish to hell they would kill him. good god that guy is such an annoying little fvck all show long that you just wanna punch his lights out, i am sorry but if the dude was in the real mafia i think he would have been "off'ed" by now, who wants to put up with that.

Agree. My guess is this has more to do with Silvio's resentment towards Christopher rather than Tony.

Well, authentic or not, it's one hell of a show.

If you're not aware, David Chase is actually Italian-American; Chase is an Americanized verson of "DeCaesare". So, while I don't mean to stereotype, it's reasonable that he might have interacted with some mobsters.

    Great Show!

I wasn't expecting Adriana to get hauled in by the FBI liked that.I like were that storyline is going though,Chris is going to be furious if and when he finds out.Ralphie definitely needs to get whacked,he just pisses me off.I wonder if anything is going to happen between Carmela and Furio.BTW,I'm glad there's been no stories with A.J. so far he's one of the more boring characters on the show.

Can I just state for the record that the predominant sentiment of burning distaste for Ralphie exhibited on these boards is a testament to one of the great character actors of our time:

Joe Pantoliano -- the guy you love to hate.

So true. He was equally detestable in Memento. Pantoliano is a wonderful actor.

And The Matrix. And... Probably most things he's ever been in.

Actually, a few years ago I saw him guesting in an episode of M*A*S*H, it was only his second credited role according to IMDb. He played a soldier who assumed the identity of a deceased friend who was set to be discharged. Even 20 years ago, you could tell it was him because the voice is the same. Like every episode of M*A*S*H, it was superbly done.

Wow........So, this is the reason all of those stupid groups try to protest the show.....people really do think Italians are all mobbed up....

I think it would reasonable to think that a writer would have done his research on the topic......The show seems 'real' enough to me, but then again I never met any mobsters, I'm of Irish and German descent.

Wasn't there something in the news during season two about how the Sopranos is loosely based on some real crime family in NJ, and that the FBI had tapes of these real-life guys watching the show and comparing it to themselves? Or maybe I dreamed that. Does that ring a bell with anyone else?

I was hoping the FBI agent would have had an affair with Adrianna. :D

His character in The Fugitive was a nice guy. I guess that was about it.

OK, I finally saw Week 2 and was able to come back to this thread.

The song at the closing credits: Treefingers, from Kid A.

I'm betting that Adrianna won't wear a wire. I just have this weird feeling about it. It's obvious for the rest of the season if she would, but when does the obvious happen in this show?

Here's my take on the Silvio / Tony thing: Sil knew that Tony would find out and be angry about it, and Sil still respects the pecking order (even if he doesn't agree with it). So why does he give Patsy permission? Because it helps paint Patsy as a problem. Sil won't mind that at all, and it's worth $2,000 if he keeps himself further up the food chain.

This episode was David Chase's massive up-yours to the Italian-American community that's been complaining about the show. Very funny stuff, especially the Tony - Silvio argument in the car on the way back from the casino.

What actually happened that's important for the future, though?

ralphie...finding his way out and to the bottom of the hudson. i thought tonights show was kinda weak but i am hoping that this is the beginning to the end of ralphie.

the teaser for next week seems to bring something interesting with tony being a possible target?

Well yeah, Ralphie's always doing something that should lead to his imminent demise.

    Janice and Bobby Baccala, anyone?

I think Silvio is on thin ice as well. At least, if Tony knew the whole story, he would be.

The only significant thing that I can think of is Paulie sucking up to Johnny Sac and driving a deeper wedge between NY and the Sopranos.
