Yeah, I don't know him and haven't seen him play, so obviously it calls for a lot of speculation. But I like the idea behind the move and the type of forward he is -- a goal poacher who is more in the style of Joveljic, who has proven he can be a finisher in big games under immense pressure, and has been on a recent slump and has something to prove, which allows us to get him at a bargain rate that fits our roster needs. Two years ago Atlanta was preparing a $12 million dollar transfer bid to make him their new DP and now we have him on a TAM deal.

this feels like its just grandstanding by the league at this point Miami gets a slap on the wrist, and they'll probably be forced to play another exhibition game they don't want to play to make the league more money and the Galaxy will probably squander whatever settlement they received by either squirreling it away or using it on a player long past their due date

Have to remember we got held over a barrel by Charlotte over Reus’ rights and league was ok with it. so now Miami attempts to sign this player without agreeing to our compensation requirements ? It’s the exact same situation yet we get screwed both times? I guess they ”settled” whatever that means.
In the above post I noted that I didn’t know how the Scottish Premier League compared to MLS. Here are the league rankings I found: Championship 7th MLS 10th Scottish PL 33rd And since he was on the (by far) strongest team in the top-heavy SPL his actual competition was weaker than the league ranking. So the fear that his productivity at Celtic was somewhat the result of facing weaker defenders remains, especially since he failed to produce in the Championship.
so is casemero coming in as a TAM player? or does miami have to do some creative accounting to be under compliance
thank you for this, I've been trying to convince myself that this is a positive move and I have seen a lot of people rave about him being a scoring machine and a joy to watch and some have noted that Atlanta tried to bring him in as a DP, so the Galaxy are getting a great deal, however everyone who has raved about him are talking about the player he was 3-4 years ago and many had no idea where he has been since being with Celtic still on the fence and this seems like a high risk low reward move has there been a timeline of when he is going to debut, my guess would be around the middle of August but by then the Galaxy may have dug to deep of a hole for him to have an impact on the team
I agree that it remains to be seen if Kyogo deserves to be a TAM player, but I don't understand why you feel that this is a high risk/low reward signing. To me it's almost the opposite. If he produces more than 5 goals in the remainder of this season, its a clear win. If its 3 or 4, its a push to me and not too bad for a TAM player adjusting a new team and league. If it's less than that the Galaxy could potentially by him out. What is the high risk that you see? Is there an available player who is clearly better for that level of funds?
risk, may have not been the proper word, gamble, take a chance, hopeful. the signing to me is the Galaxy trying to strike gold with a player that used to be great, I hope he does get 5 but those 5 are in games that matter and not when/if the Galaxy are out of it because they waited too long for reinforcements and they took too long to gel or for him to be comfortable worse case scenario he fails and the Galaxy buy him out, then what? do we hope the Galaxy get the right person next time do the Galaxy say they're constrained financially because of the previous moves. as I said I'm in a wait and see mode, but I'm also allowed to voice my concerns that this move is based on a lot of if and buts and hoping a guy can regain his previous form while getting older and living in a foreign country, that is a lot to ask from a guy out of form with 13 games left

Good assessment. I was really impressed with his goal and assist rate and I've been hearing lots of good things about him from Celtic fans, but I don't rate the Scottish League at all personally. It's a 12-team league, so the entire competition is smaller than the Western Conference. Besides Celtic and Rangers, every other team in the league plays in a stadium smaller than DHSP; MOST play in stadia that wouldn't meet requirements to expand into MLS. In the SPL format, each team plays the other 3 times, which means each season Furuhashi got 3 cracks at Dundee FC, a team comprised wholly of domestic players playing front of 11,000 fans (and they can actually end up facing them a 4th time in the 2nd phase of the season) He does have some goals against Rangers and in Champions League he's scored against Atletico and Leipzig. But the vast majority of goals scored in his prime have come against teams that are probably USL quality. Obviously the FO knows something I don't.
Not a fan of the Furuhashi signing. If I told you he wouldn't be eligible to play until next year, would you still want him? A 30-year-old player on a five-year contract who has underperformed the last two years? No way. This is the classic roster building mistake. Sacrifice the future to win this year when you have no chance of winning this year. It's frustrating to always be in rebuilding mode, but that's how you end up always being in rebuilding mode. Like others have said, I think this means Klauss is going to be out for longer than expected, but panicking is not the answer.

Miami got 2 DP tags back when Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba retired last year. They gave one to Rodrigo De Paul for this year as I believe that he came in on TAM for a half season last year and now they will give Casemiro the 3rd tag. So now they will have a bolstered midfield with De Paul as an 8, Casemiro as a 6/8 and Messi as a 10/false 9. They can win the chip again so long as they can outscore the goals that they'll concede. We were in that exact same boat back in 2024. But,...sigh

I know you are just joking but … If we were perennially in 2nd place in the league I might buy the argument that Miami is screwing us. But since we can’t make the playoffs in most years I would argue that Miami isn’t the problem. We are the problem.
Kuntz bears the majority of the responsibility for this team right now. He let the wrong people go after 2024 and I worry we are in desperation mode right now. What happens if we miss the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row? There has to be consequences..right?!
