Great, because one of the main frustrations is the team not really playing to Jo's strength. At least not since Puig has been out. I'm not going to count on Vanney changing things to match his personnel.

I'm curious to see the financials, before the news dropped I was going to comment on how St Louis City picked up Norwegian winger Carlo Holse 27, for 6 million and he has a pretty good goal rate compared to Furuhashi and 4 years younger.

I also assume that Holse is Klauss's replacement at STLC, and Furuhashi being the Klauss replacement for the Galaxy

I'll wait on stat man Skydog to chime in before I decide whether I should be outraged or not :)

Really? This guy is 30, was clearly injured in 24-25 and in ‘25-‘26 scored 1 measly goal and had 0 assists in 28 matches (8 starts) and we sign him for multiple years??? WTF are we doing?

I’m so over this “just wait until next year” shxx. Our competitors are putting together strong deep squads while we are building our team with baling wire and duct tape. We literally have only 2.5 truly good players now (players who would be starters for our main competition) - Paintsil, Glesnes and the one coming back from a torn ACL.

If our incoming DP isn’t a killer I don’t know how long I can keep caring about Vanney and company.

He was quite productive with Celitic, averaging about 0.5-1.0 g+a/90 min. He left for Chsmpionship midseason ‘24-25 and has done nothing since. I don’t know exactly how the Scottish Premier League compares to MLS but they do have a lot of weak teams. His dropoff could be having difficulty with the better defenders in the Championship or just aging and slowing down. Probably a combination.

My guess is he is now a good finisher who is too slow and small to create his own shot. I would give it a 10% chance the problem was totally a team fit issue and he will recover his old form. I imagine if old Puig came back he would be able to set him up to use his finishing skills, but us ever seeing old Puig is questionable as well.

At 5’7” and 30yo I don’t see him playing center forward. If he is in midfield as say a winger I doubt he will help our midfield defending. But I guess as a TAM player we are taking a flyer and hoping he can at least provide some depth.

I'm am wondering if Klauss's injury is worse than reported. If so can the Galaxy extend his time on injured reserve?

    outrage it is!!!

I mentioned earlier how Carlo Holse looks to be a great signing for STLC, still in his 20s productive and a player that fans would enjoy watching.

Kuntz and AEG like you mentioned are putting together a team from scraps, and the roster construction is horrid, the only team I constantly hear being in roster and financial trouble is the Galaxy, not enough slots, not enough garber bucks, not enough blah blah blah and there doesn't seem to be a plan, LAFC is selling off players now because they have a plan and are staying away from having to do panic moves because they're up against some player roster limit or financial constraint, and they seem to adjust when needed it.

what has really hurt this franchise is the waiting for one player to comeback if ever and stringing along the fans by telling them the next season will be better, Kuntz should have told Uncle Phill Puig is gone for now, lets move forward as if he is never coming back and if and when he does, its like getting a new DP to bolster the team.

I get why they keep Vanney, he is a steady hand that willing take the brunt of the scorn from fans, so AEG can be complacent.

ugh it feels like I rant and complain about this every year and I don't see that changing anytime soon unless this FO really decides to alienate the fans further

I know we have a lot of hafl full glass people here, please remind us what we have to look forward too, that doesn't include Puig coming back in 2 years

I think it is, what was the initial prognosis a week? its been a few months now

Thommy should be back soon as well according to what he told CoG, however if its longer than a month, I'd be questioning this training staff a lot more

If Klauss is out for longer than expected, then we might not need to acquire an int'l slot

Yes. Klauss is on the "Injured List," as opposed to the "Season Ending Injury List." He has to stay a on it a minimum of 6 games, but there is no maximum. We can replace his roster spot (but not his salary budget charge) and use his int'l slot while he is out.

So two of the “between 3 and 5” new players have been revealed. So at least one more and should be a DP. Right?

Are we this desperate? As @73Bruin says, is Klaus hurt worse than we think? This just seems like such an expensive signing.

So a U22 and DP would need to be domestic players correct?

Unless we have kept enough money to buy half-season international slots from other teams or we sell Aude (as rumored).

The Galaxy post about Klauss's "successful" surgery was made on April 24th. This is just over 12 weeks ago. CoPilot (error prone and all) lists the typical recovery period as 3 to 6 months. If he is out six months that pretty much closes the season for him unless the Galaxy make playoffs.

Thanks. So Rodri as a DP and Yamal as a U22 are still possible then :D

No problem with Rodri, but Yamal would be difficult. A U22 means you can have an unlimited transfer fee, but the salary can't exceed the max salary charge. He could be a Young DP, but they only have one DP slot open now. So, you'll have to choose. ;)

A team can't win without good players. I think that with Klauss hurt and Pec gone the Galaxy are desparate to save the season.

Note: I am not saying that this new guy is a good player at this point in his career. However, his being a TAM player doesn't make him necessarily an expensive signing in terms of future flexibility). Transfermarkt lists his transfer fee at $1.6mm (or about $320k per year). The Galaxy have to pay this amount up front but it gets charged to the salary budget over the length of the contract. With the max TAM deal for 2026 being approximately $1.8mm (or $900 for half a season), I suspect his new salary + bonus is under $1.4mm.

thank you and I'm assuming if he is not back by the end of August he won't be of any help, of course that all hinges on the mystery DP

Yep and based on his highlight reel I think Kuntz and Vanney are thinking DeJan part 2. So they locked him while the locking was good. We will see if he can recoup his Celtic form.

Would love to see who'd we choose if can only choose one. I suspect that it'd have to be Yamal based on the general rule of thumb that because there are only a limited number of DP spots, it should be used on a goal scorer or direct assists machine.

Seems like Galaxy said, "We want XXX dollars for Casemiro's rights." And the Inter Miami refused and just signed him. So now the league will get to dictate how much Miami pays the Galaxy.
