Which part? I'll break it down so you feel better about my statement: Could he be an international without a green card? Green card was confirmed by the Corner of the Galaxy post I included up thread and TransferMarkt also states it ("Does not occupy an international roster spot as he holds a green card.") Could he be a DP? The fact that he is not being signed as a DP was confirmed by Bogert's post I included up thread, which said he was going to be light on the cap since Austin bought out his contract. Plus, we didn't announce that he was a DP signing, which we always do for those signings, and he wasn't a DP for either Austin or Inter Miami, so it would be a stretch to think we increased the salary of a player to DP status who was bought out and waived by his team and had only played 76 minutes this season thus far because of a knee injury. Could we not sign a DP at all, strike out on all of our other negotiations, and therefore this is our only big signing? It's possible we don't sign a DP at all, but Kuntz said in a post I also included earlier in this thread that we would sign a DP in this window. And it's possible Kuntz fails to sign a single other player, making him our "biggest" signing by default, but I'm still sure he wouldn't be "our big DP signing".

For those not familiar with our new signing Robert Taylor, here is a short summary : He signed with Miami for a small transfer fee (when Miami used to s*ck) at the age of 27 after playing all his career in Scandinavia. He looked average in his first year and a half until Messi and co. came during the 2023 summer. He suddenly became an amazing and unexpected addition to Miami's attack and had a big hand in helping them winning the 2023 Leagues Cup. He then looked decent for a couple of months but never found the efficiency he had in this Leagues Cup. He came to Austin in a trade at the beginning of the 2025 season for $700,000 in allocation money, which is a huge amount. At the time I was thinking they were overpaying a lot for him*. Taylor never rediscovered his Miami form and never won a starting spot between his subpar performances and his injuries. Austin waived him a few weeks ago, which is a hard sign for a player they invested so much a year ago. That's why the Galaxy gets him on a cap friendly deal, I think MLS still pays him a part of his Austin salary. He's a right-footed winger who can play on both sides, but he's more comfortable on the left, as his preferred play is to come back inside and take a (curling) shot with his right foot. He's not particularly fast, not strong with the ball, can sometimes dribble but he's not flashy. He can make an amazing play sometimes but has struggled to maintain consistency. I expect him to give us an option untill the new DP winger is ready, but I don't feel confident in him thriving in a very average Galaxy squad, and I would bet he won't be here in 2027. * side note on Miami : I think they've done a beyond amazing job at selling high some average players like Taylor, Redondo, Cremaschi or Campana (OK it's hard to call Campana "average", but he hasn't done much in New England). I think that could be a reason why they're not struggling with the salary cap. Is it the Messi effect ?
not surprising, the US is not everybody's cup of tea, and sure the US caters to the rich and famous, which is a huge draw for those in the upper elite but for someone like Salah who seems to enjoy being happy and out of the celebrity spotlight, US would not be an option with that being said, his butt better stay in Europe, because I would not want to see him anywhere near MLS 3-4 years from now, wanting that last big bag of cash, when he is on his last legs, just like what Lewandowski is doing now. I also understand that Lewandowski at this age is probably still better than 60 percent of what trots out there every week in MLS
It would have been a little weird if Mo landed with the Gs considering he hasn't participated in any of Liverpool's pride celebrations from what I've read and the history of the Gs with Robbie Rogers and the fact the club has pride night.
excellent point and a lot of players from that region are highly conservative to put it nicely, and at this point I'd rather the G's find diamonds in the rough than signing fading fast soccer superstars, but also I'm a soccer lifer and not some casual fan so I don't fit the demographic they're trying to attract. I believe the Galaxy hit on Pec and Paintsil but missed badly on Nasci and of course with players like that its a crapshoot on how they workout, Nasci did not workoutl Pec I'll say worked out short term and Paintsil may workout long term. looking around the league Herrington is 18 years old coming off the Australian World Cup team playing for Colorado, San Jose just signed 21 year old Luka Jovanović Australian Football Leagues leading scorer Nashville signed 21 year old Famara Camara from Senegal and 2nd tier Norwegian league and 26 year old Elias Saad from Tunisia who was also part of the Tunisian World Cup team and has spent time in the Bundesliga these are the type of signing I would like the Galaxy to be pursing, sure they're not the sexy moves but winning cures everything and I hope the Galaxy are looking for longevity in growing the fanbase and not the quick fix that seems to be the norm in this current societal climate

Yeah, I was never bullish about the Salah rumors. Messi and Ronaldo got people thinking anyone can play deep into their 30s -- Salah is a 34 year old winger. David Beckham came here at 32. How would you feel about Alex Zendejas? Currently has 5G 3A in 14 apps for America. Probably the best America attacking player not in Europe.
I think this is the proper way to go targeting US Nats who are on the cusp of being starters like Zendejas or someone like Brenden Aaronson who is at Leeds. The MLS should really start thinking bigger and bringing home these type of players, make it normal so players like Diego Luna don't get screwed because they play in MLS. Orlando City brought back Daryl Dike, so anything is possible
I'm still a Kuntz fan. While I have my quibbles, the quality of players isn't our problem. * The three DPs: We used the DPs on young attacking players (as you should) and it paid off. It's not Kuntz's fault that Puig was hurt two years. And Paintsil was always a role player. If he is the fourth most dangerous option, he becomes very dangerous because you can't focus on him. If he's the number one option, he's becomes limited. * The 3 U-22's: Joveljic was a great success. Nasci was not. That's how it works with that age group. Aude was an unforced error since you shouldn't be using this program for left backs. Sanabria is kind of that too. * Klauss was a good piece of business. A limited player, but we didn't need him to be great, we just need him to be a complement to our other players. Getting him for a one-year DP and then being (presumably) able to move him to TAM was ideal. Again, not Kuntz's fault he got hurt. *I think our defenders have been better players than we give them credit for. Bringing in Yamane and Yoshida was important for our championship. Seeing that we still had defensive problems, we brought in Garces (an imperfect player but Matt Doyle credits him for turning around our season when he arrived). We needed defenders again and we brought in Haak and Glesnes. They fit what we needed exactly and both had good reputations. Our defense sucks, as it always has recently, but we know who the problem is. Not saying Kuntz has been perfect - we paid to much for Reus and probably shouldn't have resigned Yoshida. The Academy has been a disappointment, although I don't know how much influence Kuntz has with that. Still, he's doing fine in my book.
I'd argue he has made some big blunders. Not putting Puig on the injured list in 2025 and hoping we would somehow succeed was a terrible decision. Cost us an entire year - compounded when Puig tore his acl again. So far we seem to have no plan to fix this, it's the 500lb elephant in the room. There is no one in the midfield to make this team dangerous and no other moves are going to matter until this is fixed. I've said before that letting a proven goal scored in Dejan go was a huge mistake.He should have been the DP, it's rare to find proven goal scorers in this league. I feel Vanney/Kuntz always undervalued Dejan. Delgado never should have been allowed to go. We kept the wrong DP's - Pec and Paintsil only work with Puig to feed them. The midfield he has assembled is too young and proven ineffective - maybe in 2-3 years they come good...and finally he elected to keep Vanney and extend his contract.
Dejan was pre-Kuntz though. I mentioned it in the LAFC thread, but I’m very curious about this window. I think it’ll say a lot about Kuntz and whether ‘24 was him or Mikey Stevens. 2025 was a bust, 2026 was a bunch of safe choices (not a criticism) and has been a lot like our overall record before last night’s game: some good, some bad, perfectly balanced mediocrity. If we are getting 3–5 new players in the next month or so including a DP, the DP needs to be an immediate impact player, and two of the others need to be starter quality. And they need to pay off. Obviously you can’t predict 100% how a player is going to adjust to a new team, but it needs to be better than a coin flip.
agreed the DP's should be used on attacking players, yes Puig getting injured is not his fault, however his planing on how to proceed after Puig was injured is. if Paintsil is a role player and 4th option, he should not be designated as a DP, thats on Kuntz the hit and miss of the U-22 is part of doing business, no issues there but when you hit big on a player like Dejan, you don't sell him off as quickly as Kuntz did with no better back up plan in place. agreed with you here as well, Klauss is a good signing when he plays, however a good GM would also have other plans if things go wrong and not be stuck in the mud and having the team in limbo till players get back or in some cases not comeback at all agreed, if the defenders are that good, its the other issue that is the problem. I would think a person in Kuntz position would have a bit of influence in all aspects of the organization and if being mediocre is fine in your book, more power to you, but my grumpy butt expects more from an organization that used to be the jewel of MLS
