I went looking around and it seems that Pec was the Galaxy's only representative at this media event and from my understanding the Galaxy could have sent more than one but they didn't. With Pec leaving, he was removed from the Ad, however an eagle eye fan noticed that Pec's name is featured, I took a look and at the 32 second mark of the video on the Kevin Durant magazine cover, you can see the caption "Gabriel Pec Galaxy Superstar" and screenshot
He's had some injuries and Austin bought him out in June with one of their two permitted contract buyouts. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was training with the Galaxy at some point during this “preseason” as a trialist. So, we get him very cheap and without needing an int'l slot. He provides immediate veteran depth without being much of a current or long-term contract commitment. I don't hate it. Maybe we find a Tyler Boyd in a bottle.
I'm sure his 2 appearances 0g/1a this year 21 appearances 2g/0a last year will slot in nicely with the Galaxy attack. on another note, the name rang familiar, so I looked it up and in Leagues Cup 2023, he had 5 goals and 3 assists in 7 games, so he does have some talent, so as of now I will hope that he is just having a bad stretch and a change of scenery will do him good
Wonder if Taylor is who the jersey tease was for or if it's for someone else. Or could be for all the supposed multiple signings the Gs are rumored for.
More background on Taylor Robert Taylor is a 31-year-old Finnish Winger. Hasn't played significant minutes since 2024 (1660). 593 minutes last year between Miami and Austin. Just 2 starts and 54 minutes this season for ATX. But in both starts had an assist.Knee issues this year. With friendly cap hit,… https://t.co/LsJNllnJh6— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) July 15, 2026
I hope he’s at least been around during the break and we gave him a hard look (on trial) before signing him.
Official announcement. He's only signed through the end of the 2026 season and we retain an option to extend through the end of 2027. So, this is a bridge signing at worst. https://www.lagalaxy.com/news/la-galaxy-sign-free-agent-forward-robert-taylor
Taylor was not occupying an INTL slot on Austin's roster. I would assume he's not going to do so with the Galaxy either. No INTL slot. #LAGalaxy #MLS https://t.co/tsEgB9GSvr— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) July 15, 2026
Taylor is a technical but streaky player, who's not very athletic. Can play on both sides, but he's more comfortable on the left when he can come inside and take a shot from his right foot. His best moments were at the 2023 Leagues Cup when Messi, Busquets and Alba took over at Miami. I remember he surpisingly came from a very average player to an excellent partner for Messi, but then faded. As a cheap depth piece it's OK, but I don't expect much from him.
If Taylor is one of the two depth signings that Vanney mentioned, then that's probably an upgrade. We've been using a lot of players as backup wingers to Paintsil and Pec who weren't really wingers (e.g., Miller, Cuevas, Thommy, and even Aude).
Definitely the new depth winger. We still have a DP spot and a U22 spot and cash (if AEG allows us to use it). He didn't use any of that.
Looking forward to the day we’re once again featured in these. Is that day soon? It's good to be back.Watch every MLS match live starting July 16 on Apple TV. pic.twitter.com/x7xFcfr7mF— Apple TV (@AppleTV) July 15, 2026
I know I'm 3 months late on this, but this just came up on my Youtube feed and I'm wondering why the Galaxy are not promoting more of this kind of stuff, instead of doing the absolute minimum or relying on Apple to do their marketing, which Apple is not bothering to do https://www.youtube.com/shorts/nm8eIObh_xg
I think the Galaxy did a wonderful job with their World Cup parties. Whether it was at the coliseum, in downtown Long Beach or Galaxy Park or at Hermosa or Redondo Beach. They have had tens of thousands of people participate. i’m sure they did their best to get contact info. It will be interesting to see if they can turn any of those people into paying customers.
It's amazing how many Galaxy fans on social media don't understand that we aren't replacing a DP player with a journeyman player we are picking up on a free at the minimum salary cap hit, even though both happen to be wingers. Then again, we here on BS are a bit more obsessive about the team and league and how the rules work.
I think it was the whole Jersey hanging thing and new player incoming hype. Like there is no hype for Robert Taylor, don't even post that shit. Just announce him.
I don't know. Just like LAFC's hat gimmmick, they do it for all the non-Academy or street free agent domestic player signings during the transfer window as I recall. Erik Thommy got one. Was he that much bigger an acquisition than Robert Taylor? At one point, but he certainly didn't move the needle much, excitement-wise.
