SELL! He’s no better than a dozen American journeymen at the position. And we need the international slot.
Getting back 3 million on an initial 5 million investment in a young player that didn't live up to expectations is a pretty good return.
I was just thinking that. This would technically be a loss, but it would be a pretty good return on him considering his injury history and his inability to secure the starting position.
For $3MM, sure. But not for a ridiculous $800k -&1.2MM like for Cuevas. Was the actual Cuevas number made public?
Not that I have seen. Josh on CoG has speculated that it could be $1.5mm to $1.6mm paid out over 2 years. I doubt that we will ever get an "official" number of what the Galaxy received, especially as the net amount. Nor does this mean that AEG will let the Galaxy use this money on a timely basis.
I like Aude but it’s time to move on. Get an American for that spot and open an international slot. R This is a big rebuild and it needs to be done, team just wasn’t good enough.
Aude def is no Jedi, but I still prefer him in that spot over Nelson. Skydive and statistics be damned
Seems like we have somewhere between 13-15 million (If AEG allows us to use it) in cash and 1 DP and 2 U22 spots to work with. Plus the roster space (with Cuevas leaving) to bring up one more of the academy kids who is ready to get some scraps with the first team.
it kind of raises the question whether you have to choose between making moves now for the sake of this season or if it’s better to take a longer view and try to have the team right for next season. I don’t really know what the answer is, but I don’t wanna look back in six months and say hey we should’ve found the right player as opposed to who is available now. However, they always say much better players are available in the summer so maybe now it’s the time to lock things down. sure would help team planning that any idea of what Riqui will look like in 2027.
I kind of agree with everyone. First, Trickhog and Benny that Aude hasn't lived up to expectations, has been frequently injured and that $3mm is a fair return. With Skydog and JPAR, that the Galaxy need the international slot. With you that I prefer Aude to Nelson with the proviso all things being equal. Unfortunately, all things aren't equal. The Galaxy need the money, need the international slot and probably could find a domestic player who can adequately fulfill the role that Aude currently fills.
Aude is like our back up left winger now right? lol. Maybe he can be more effective up the field on Friday.
Next season is that weird sprint season. I’m curious to see if any teams go all-in for an MLS Cup run and plan a rebuild on ‘28 or if some teams might use ‘27 as a platform to ‘28.
It almost feels like LAG is starting on the rebuild for 2028 now, since the roster option during the summer are typically better than during the winter window. Of course, the big unasked and unanswered question is, “What’s going on with talisman Riqui?” I’d think that 6 months out from a second fix got the same problem that someone in the org has a finger on that. But maybe it’s too soon to know…
can some one remind of the other acquisitions that received the twirly jersey treatment, I'm trying to temper my expectations by who also got the twirly jersey treatment and if I remember correctly the new player is usually announced within seven days of the twirly jersey on Galaxy reddit a couple of people are hoping for KDB or Salah
It’s hard to believe a top/ high reputation player would be announced with no real rumors ahead of time.
You can buy the int’l slot while you get the ITC and visa, but if we sell Aude, we would have a free slot. It could also be a domestic player, even if they were playing for a team overseas.
At least I finally saw MLS promotional ad during today’s WC match. Since our game is also a Fox broadcast as well as an Apple steam it makes some sense
I saw it for first time too. Really annoying we had ZERO representation in that ad. They couldn't throw Paintsil, Glesnes, or Reus in there? Annoyed me more than I expected.
Especially when Painstil is on the online banner. Even San Diego got a jersey in there. We have NOTHING.
Wing help on the cheap from someone who has already been in MLS and has a green card. So, this isn’t our big DP signing. 🇫🇮 Sources: The LA Galaxy has signed Finnish winger Robert Taylor.Taylor, 31, made 34 caps for Finland. Most known for successful run with Inter Miami. Joined Austin last year and was just waived.Joins Galaxy on free transfer. Will hit Galaxy cap at club-friendly number. pic.twitter.com/YVJir6dTV8— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) July 15, 2026
We are getting Austin’s unwanted leftovers? That hurts. I watched Taylor play for Miami, mostly as a sub. He played ok, but it’s worrisome that even weak-ass Austin didn’t want him.
